Derek Pope - Passing a Baton

Copied!edit Lyrics
original text at lyrnow.com/1625917
Chorus
I keep running round in circles like
Passing a baton
The days all melt together now
Most the lights are gone
I say it’s getting better now
Knowing that I’m wrong
Don’t wonder how you’re doing just
Hope you’re moving on

Verse 1
I find it hard to see the forest for the trees
Sometimes it’s there sometimes I struggle to believe
Does that make me weak?
I thought that honesty is key
To open the lock
This room there’s barely room to breathe

Bridge
Show me what’s in store
Came here wanting more
What’s it all been for
What’s it all been for

Chorus
I keep running round in circles like
Passing a baton
The days all melt together now
Most the lights are gone
I say it’s getting better now
Knowing that I’m wrong
Don’t wonder how you’re doing just
Hope you’re moving on

Verse 2
Is there anyone alive out there?
I’m drowning in the desert
Gave all I had to spare
To watch you blossom

Outro
You’ll see
There’s nowhere else I’d rather be
I’ll be free to
Die among the tumbleweeds
Every drug’s not you, every high’s not me
But I’ll float right here when it gets too deep

Derek Pope is a musician who has taken the road less traveled in pursuit of his unique sound. Born and raised in Oakland, California, Pope discovered his passion for music at a young age. In high school, he delved into beat production, spending countless hours perfecting his craft and laying the foundation for what would become his signature sound.

It wasn't until 2015 that Pope decided to experiment with singing, a decision that would ultimately lead him to redefine his musical style. After creating a few demos, Pope realized that he had stumbled upon something special. His lyrics, particularly the line "Looking at the ceiling, thinking I could make a million," resonated with listeners and set the stage for what was to come.

In 2015, Pope released his debut EP, Sunken City Redux, which featured the hit single "Raincoats." The track showcased Pope's ability to seamlessly blend elements of indie rock, pop, and trap, creating a sound that was uniquely his own. With his self-produced beats and introspective lyrics, Pope has managed to carve out a niche for himself in the music industry, pushing the boundaries of what is considered mainstream.

Derek Pope's music is a reflection of his journey as an artist, constantly evolving and challenging the status quo. With each new release, he continues to push the envelope and defy expectations, solidifying his place as a rising star in the music world.
