Lyrics from CD booklet

Take thes birds everlasting
Can't undo the voodoo that you do
And the knots that we fasten
Will not work themselves ❲?❳

Whatever it takes
Steer clear of the snakes

The road to bell is paved with gold they'll tell you
All the things that you don't need they'll sell you

Your conscience uncontrolled
And beauty to behold
The promise of eternal youth
The spoils of fame, a carpe diem attitude

The flames are high, thе piper's call ❲?❳
A fixer who will numb your pain, and strangenеss

The wheels are hot, the hangover outrageous
The deaçer he will trade your soul for favours

But you'll reap what you ❲?❳
As I found long ago
The promise of eternal youth
The spoils of fame, a carpe diem attitude

"The Piper's Call" by David Gilmour is a haunting and introspective song that delves into the concept of temptation and the consequences of giving in to it. The lyrics speak of the allure of fame, beauty, and eternal youth, and the dangers of falling under the spell of those who promise these things. Gilmour warns of the snakes and deceivers that will try to lead you astray, and urges listeners to steer clear of their traps.

The song paints a vivid picture of the seductive but ultimately destructive path that can be taken in pursuit of worldly pleasures. The imagery of flames, the piper's call, and a fixer who numbs your pain all serve to convey the sense of danger and allure that comes with giving in to temptation.

Ultimately, Gilmour reminds listeners that they will reap what they sow, and that true fulfillment cannot be found in fleeting pleasures or empty promises. "The Piper's Call" serves as a cautionary tale, urging listeners to resist the temptations that may lead them down a destructive path.
