spoken intro
Yeah, um, 'cause we used to just let the beat be anything, you know?
It didn't have to be specifically in the same key, in the same vibe
Definitely not the same vibe, as the original
So you could just be free

Portrait of my life
Portrait of my life
Portrait of my life
Portrait of my life
My life

What is it?
It's just a portrait of my life

Portrait of my life
Portrait of my life (portrait of my life)
Portrait of my life
Portrait of my life (it's just a portrait of my life)
My life

spoke
And then i would leave stuff and just be like, ok, well, hey this is a different thing
I have to put my - not have a perfectionist hat on when i'm doing this
It's hard
Portrait of my life
Portrait of my life (i gotta think about it)
Portrait of my life
Portrait of my life (paint a picture)
My life
It's just a portrait of my life

scatting

verse 1
Somebody
Where do i go from here? (where, where, where)
Tell me how do i disappear? (where, where, where)
I'm here beyond the looking glass
Somewhere off the beaten path (somewhere off the beaten path)
Have you ever felt the heartache never seems to pass, just
Heartache never seems to pass, just
Heartache never seems to pass, just
I said the
Heartache never seems to pass, just
Heartache never seems to pass, just
The heartache never seems to pass by
Let the heartache last inside of me

Portrait of my life
Portrait of my life (it's just a)
Portrait of my life (it's just a)
Portrait of my life
My life
It's just a portrait of my life
And i go
If it wasn't for you i'd go
If it wasn't for you i'd go (i'd go)
If it wasn't for you i'd go
If it wasn't for you i'd go (and i go)
If it wasn't for you i'd go (i'd go)
If it wasn't for you i'd go

verse 2
I guess i
Somewhat desensitized (where, where, where)
But i'm still the same hopeful child
Haunted by those severed ties
Pushing past the parasites
Down but not demoralized
Unconfined

Portrait of my life
Portrait of my life (it's the portrait of my life)
Portrait of my life (portrait of my life)
Portrait of my life

Portrait of my life
Portrait of my life (it's the portrait of my life)
Portrait of my life (portrait of my life)
Portrait of my life
Please don't let me
If it wasn't for you i'd go
If it wasn't for you i'd go
If it wasn't for you i'd go (it's just a portrait of my life)
If it wasn't for you i'd go
If it wasn't for you i'd go
If it wasn't for you i'd go
It's just a portrait of my life

Yes i know tomorrow (tomorrow)
There's always tomorrow (yes i know)
Tomorrow
Tomorrow comes
I'll feel the same
I tried and tried to change
And prayed to change inside
But i can't hide the portrait of my life

It's just a portrait of my life
Somebody say it to me

Portrait of my life
Portrait of my life (it's the portrait of my life)
Portrait of my life (somebody)
Portrait of my life
Somebody say it to me
It's just a portrait of my life (somebody say it to me)

Where do i go from here? (where, where, where)
Tell me how do i disappear? (where, where, where)
I'm here beyond the looking glass
Somewhere off the beaten path (somewhere off the beaten path)
Have you ever felt the heartache never seems to pass by
The heartache never seems to pass by
Heartache never seems to pass by
I said the
Heartache never seems to pass by
Heartache never seems to pass by
The heartache never seems to pass by
Let the heartache last inside of me

chorus
Yet i know that tomorrow comes
So i'll be here when you rise (rise)
Stay real close and the moment will subside
Look the other way as i bottle myself up inside
And i won't let the teardrops spill tonight
Just conceal myself and hide
A portrait of my life
Look the other way as i bottle myself up inside
And i won't let the teardrops spill tonight
Just conceal myself and hide
A portrait of my life
And i go
And i go
I go
I go
I go

If it wasn't for you i'd go
If it wasn't for you i'd go (and i go)
If it wasn't for you i'd go
If it wasn't for you i'd go (i'd go)

Gotta wait, gotta wait, gotta wait
A little bit longer (stay)
Gotta wait, gotta wait, gotta wait
A little bit longer (stay with me)
Gotta wait, gotta wait, gotta wait
A little bit longer (stay)
Gotta wait, gotta wait, gotta wait
A little bit longer (stay with me)
Stay
Stay with me
I just gotta wait, gotta wait, gotta wait
A little bit for you, for you

Look the other way as i bottle myself up inside
And i won't let the teardrops spill tonight
Just conceal myself and hide
A portrait of my life

And i let go
And i let go
So i won't let the teardrops spill tonight
So i won't let the teardrops fall tonight
So i won't let the teardrops spill tonight
And i let go (eh)
And i let go
And i won't let the teardrops spill tonight
And i won't let the teardrops spill tonight
And i won't let the teardrops spill tonight
Just conceal myself and hide
A portrait of my life

I won't let the teardrops
Look the other way
I won't let the teardrops
Look the other way
I won't let the teardrops
Look the other way
I won't let the teardrops spill tonight
Look the other way

Look the other way as i bottle myself up inside
And i won't let the teardrops spill tonight (i won't let em)
Just conceal myself and hide (i won't let em)
A portrait of my life

bridge
And for the finale, she can float around effortlessly
And dream away the hours in her mind
And for the finale, she can float around effortlessly
And dream away the hours in her mind (in her mind)
And for the finale, she can float around effortlessly
And dream away the hours in her mind
And (butterfly)
She can float (butterfly)
Dream (in her mind)
And i let go

Yet i know that tomorrow comes, so i'll be here when you rise
Stay here close (stay here close) and the moment will subside
Look the other way as i bottle myself up inside
I won't let the teardrops spill tonight
Just conceal myself and hide

Biography

edit bio
Mariah Carey, born on March 27, 1970, is a multi-talented American artist known for her powerful vocals, chart-topping hits, and impressive range. She began her career under the guidance of Columbia Records executive Tommy Mottola, releasing her self-titled debut album in 1990. The album was a massive success, going multi-platinum and producing four number one singles on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 chart.

After marrying Mottola in 1993, Carey continued to achieve success with hit records like “Emotions” (1991), “Music Box” (1993), and “Merry Christmas” (1994). Her album Daydream (1995) made music history with the record-breaking sixteen-week run of the single “One Sweet Day”, a duet with Boyz II Men. However, Carey's musical style began to shift towards hip hop with the release of Butterfly (1997), coinciding with her separation from Mottola.

In 2000, Carey left Columbia and signed a lucrative $100 million recording contract with Virgin Records. However, she faced personal struggles and a career setback after the release of her first feature film, Glitter (2001). Following the film's poor reception, Carey was bought out of her contract for $50 million. She then signed with Island Records in 2002 and made a successful comeback with The Emancipation of Mimi (2005), which included the hit single "We Belong Together."

In addition to her music career, Carey has also ventured into acting, receiving critical acclaim for her role in the film Precious (2009). She has been recognized with various awards and nominations for her performances, showcasing her versatility as a performer.

Throughout her career, Mariah Carey has proven to be a resilient and talented artist, continuously evolving and pushing boundaries in the music industry. With her powerhouse vocals and impressive discography, she has solidified her status as one of the best-selling music artists of all time.
