Durk Derrick Banks, known professionally as Lil Durk, was born on October 19, 1992, in Chicago, Illinois. Growing up in the tough neighborhoods of Chicago, Durk was no stranger to the violence and struggle that plagued his city. Despite the challenges he faced, Durk found solace and expression in music.

Durk rose to fame as a prominent figure in the drill wave that emerged in the 2010s. His gritty lyrics and raw storytelling captivated audiences and solidified his place in the rap scene. In 2012, he gained recognition with the release of "L's Anthem" and its remix featuring French Montana. The following year, he continued to make waves with tracks like "Dis Ain't What U Want," showcasing his introspective side.

Throughout his career, Durk has faced legal issues and controversies, with some of his shows being canceled due to these challenges.
