spoken word intro
Justin talbot knows the ravishes of addiction first hand
He's been sober now for a little over a year
Thanks in part to religious-based group victory outreach
In the kensington section of philadelphia
He is now part of this ministry run by pastor joseph bishop
They are fighting the battle to help the heroin-addicted at ground zero
Kensington, where any day of the week a user can find an assortment of mixes of the drug for sale
Well, i call it gettin' out the gate
You know, i gotta get out the gate, i gotta, you know
It's gettin', it's just like wakin' havin' their coffee in the morning

intro
I'm known by many names
I'm known in many veins
'round the world, now i'm back again
East where i do my thang
I'm known by many names
I'm known in many veins
To new york, now i'm back again
East where i do my thang

verse 1
Aight, pass me a light
I had just made it back to pa that night
Ol' homie wanna chill, so we head to the field
Where all these young bulls give ls left, not right
House full of kids i went to school wit' nowhere to go
They graduate? i still don't know but one bull did rob a store
But this the night we first met and i can't say for sure
Gave him a taste for that lick, sick of my shit, i still had class in new
York

chorus
I go by many names
I’m known in many veins
I been up down the coast but in pa i do my thing
Friends’ll say you changed
I always stay the same
Up and down the coast but in pa i do my thing
Uh
I do my thing
I do my thing
I been up and down the coast but in pa i do my thing
I’m gonna change your brain
Forgot your baby’s name
I’m up and down the coast but in pa i do my thing

bridge

Whole east coast on that heron
So slow they thought i was on heron
Gil scott when i’m on that heron
Needles on the cirb know thats
Aye

verse 2

I know rich and poor man
Way he walked into the store resembled slow dance
Opiates make our world bright eyes won’t open
Hopin hopin every day he not over dosing
Remember back
To that first night when we ride around and we kicked it
That was a year ago an now i know asia parents died
Thats why there was no grown folks at the crib
And you bout to have a kid asked its name he had to think for a
Minute
Then he mumbled something like
Which name nigga?

hook

I go by many names
I’m known in many veins
I been up down the coast but in pa i do my thing
Friends’ll say you changed
I always stay the same
Up and down the coast but in pa i do my thing
Uh
I do my thing
I do my thing
I been up and down the coast but in pa i do my thing
I’m gonna change your brain
Forgot your baby’s name
I’m up and down the coast but in pa i do my thing

bridge 2

I do my thing
Got me sick
Do my thing

verse 3

Now that i’m back for good riding round old neighborhoods
Even though i live in west i’ll keep this job up in the burbs
Saw him for the last time when he was employed at work
He was at the train station looking sickly getting worse
Almost passed him by ain't recognize said he waiting on his mans
Tryin to get out the gate all i gots some addy’s in my hand
He said man i need a speed ball for the week
Thats the only way i’m making it cuz i’m about to freak
Few weeks later he ain't quit that nigga disappeared
I got replaced for a crackhead he got hired that year
That fucked up my hustle and i had to find new work
Two months and those 2 robbed the store for all that it was worth
So of course thats when i get my job back nigga
Heard the crackhead od’d where i used to eat dinner
And the bull i used to work with well he came back in the store
So fucked up what he did he didn’t even know

Biography

edit bio
Tawobi is a weirdo. Originally from the Mt. Airy neighborhood of Philadelphia Tawobi returned to the city in 2015 after a 2 year stay at St. Johns University in Queens New York. Growing up inspired by left field artists like Outkast, E40, Fiona Apple and Marilyn Manson Tawobi thought all he needed to do was find a way to New York, rap for the right people and he’d make it. That was until he got there. He spent two years there attempting to get in studios, get shows and meet all the right people. Instead he ended up doing a lot of what he did back home. Getting high, chasing women and chasing fake promises of opportunity. He ended his last year held up in his room smoking weed and working on his writing and production. Since dropping out Tawobi’s life has been a full on roller coaster of odd jobs, home studios, evictions, hustling, heroin addicts, schizophrenics and recording recording recording. After two years and some change Tawobi has garnished a stable living situation with some of his oldest friends and members of the local Philly artist ensemble Highest Basement Collective (HBC). The past two years have consisted of the most consistent content output he’s ever produced. Caused by a never ending work ethic and isolation Tawobi finished and released 4 e.p’s, released 5 videos (including skits), and finished the full length album he began when he first touched down back home in 2015. Preparing to release the recently completed album later this year, and with his latest video for “White People Song” from his e.p backwoods breaking 100,000 views on YouTube the self proclaimed Struggle Rapper finally seems to be making waves doing what he loves. Delivering obscure music with a message and pissing off all the right people.
