Yeah
Ooh
We here man
We'll let it breathe for a second
Hell's kitchen
Bars on i-95 look
We back outside finally
Yeah
Uh

I represent the real like a film agent
Real blatant dudes talkin' 'bout they bank but those ain't real statements
Dude's talkin' bout they bank but that ain't tim duncan say they'll pop a vic'
I got a itch they for real faking
I just be me and stay real patient
These kid only sick on the nets
Word to jayson when he's losing to shaquille at his best
These days i ain't even feelin' the stress
If they the ones makin' assessments i don't even need to hear i'm the best
If you got a head on your shoulders then it's clear that i'm next
But i just wanna make my art and let the pain bleed
It's dark and hell is hot and there's a faint breeze and i'm that - the legacy of legends
See them? they got it backwards
They just in their exes dm
Some addictions destroy the world
Somes destroy themselves
Is your pain a symptom or a system within itself? (right)
Self-inflicted wounds trying to chase this validation
Half these dude's 'grams is just public masturbation
Greatest aspirations? to make the wealthy wealthier
They give you couple dollars and their ownership get healthier
So i'm done appeasing, no more need to be gentle
I ain't arguing with noone whose career is a rental (right)
They give their heart for a follow
I just follow my heart
Sad thing is they be sad at the top of the charts
Lotta cats sell their hopes and dreams just pedaling dopamine
Like: "this could be you too!"
Man, this for you
Admit you flexing chasing notifications
Sell me the same shallow and call this shit inspiration
I'm the embodiment of what you know but you scared to say
Hate the messenger if you want but i ain't going away
Grow with me
'cause my old highs are my lows today
Used to wish they notice me
Now they see me and know it's me
Shit
So i'm trying to find composure quick
When i do it's monk like i'm craftalonius
They on that bread and baloney shit
Bullshit sandwiches
They wanna be scandalous but don't know what the scandal is
They see the god and act irrational
They evangelists
I been dope they just now accepting me
I'm cannabis
"wasn't a fan of his, now everybody's heard but me!"
The joke's on you like them two dots in germany
We live in a time when something's gotta be more
Where everyone who post a meme is a side of shakur
Where we live on explore pages but don't gotta explore
And everything they got in store they done got in a store
Enjoy your one all-star season 'cause i'm dame in the fourth
The road to legend ain't cheap and you can't pay with remorse
Tell me who your favorite rapper?
Pick the name of a corpse
I slay them for sport but i always throw them back in the ocean
Got a soft spot
I don't play 'em as cordial
I'm a good guy
Only tell good lies like:
"it's okay that we so toxic" or "that was a good try"
My expectation is like a foot high you can't let me down
And almost everything bad in this world come from greedy men
So i can't cook with you you don't bring the right ingredients
If you ain't living right i wanna see you change not see you win
'cause that win's a loss
See it then?
You all janitors of oppression
Ensure maintenance of the system
While you market them rebellion you can't play me i got vision
Corporate orchestrated campaigns sold as dangerous decisions
Kids buy and make real ones into graves and into prison
I just call it like i see it and i see it well
Devil's in the details
You the type to tell the d your tales
If they wanna be thirsty it's hard to leave the well
Before i work for 'em i'd rather be chappelle
Shit
'cause i'm borderline uninspired
At this point my effort's sorta like unrequired
Their mouths sprint and i ain't trying to outrun a liar
That's a fool's errand like y'all trips to the jewelry store (whoo)
Misinformation still rule the public sphere
Monday i want revolution
Friday i just want a beer
Got advice? talk to me in a couple years
I don't know where i'll be then
I'm just trying to get you to go away like "stop talking to me" (haha)
I sit awkwardly
I quit coffee b 'cause caffeine make me shit oftenly
And leave me tense and askew
Then they mention these dudes who only get shine off a necklace's hue
And stay talking about erection shits - ew
It's like - we get it - you got famous so you finally got some pussy
What blessing for you, congratulations
I'm out of patience though my practice is closed
'cause that's all they ever word to a cat with this prose
I really live this marathon shit and trust me
I could meddle if i want to sprint
So when they like; "craft, ain't you mad someone sold you this and that?"
I be like: "nah. not even one bit. i'm an artist. not a human production line. when i die donate my heart to science. my shit like the grinch after cindy lou showed love. y'all rather get a billion likes and get no love."
Shit i been telling them for years that i'm a different breed
And when i think about it can't be mad if they didn't believe
To recognize a goat before the herd is a skill
They was quick to judge but never heard the appeal
Dudes put off the work while i put on for the culture
When nobody else want to fly a hawk look like a vulture (facts)
I won't apologize for doing it right
Fuck what i do to the mics
Remember me for what i do to mines
Cats know that i'm the truth it just bothers them
Cats know i got the proof i don't audit them
Cats know that if it really was a problem that got settled with raps - fuck spitting - i cough on them
Wifey laying next to me, i feed off her energy
She grab me up and tell me breathe when i let you all get to me
I came home late and she still got the d laid
"i could wait for greatness" is what she said
I be venting telling her 'bout how they try to give me dudes that i prepaid
She said "here's the deal babe - you 'bout here, and you gonna get here and they couldn't stop you if they tried. like, let's just keep it real, 'kay?"
We - we don't call each other babe, that just fit the rhyme scheme
Know what i'm saying? like sometimes writers take liberties?
2021 they still trying to take liberties
So take the cop's funding and get rid these prisons b
Struggled with this health
Never coddled me mentally
Held this shit down while it was morally bankrupt and y'all own me penalties
Take it how you want i ain't here to play referee
I'm here to make memories
Shit
'cause if i ain't careful i'mma do that shit for everyone except for me
Yeah
While i worry if they accepting me
Fuck that, i'd rather die a rebel b
Yeah

Biography

edit bio
Marlon Craft was born and raised in Hell’s Kitchen, NYC, where he was immersed in the world of music from a young age as the son of a jazz musician. Growing up, he also spent time in Harlem and the South Bronx during his basketball playing years, where he developed a deep love for hip-hop. It wasn't until his college years that Craft began recording his own music and sharing it with his peers.

While studying Urban Education & Social Justice at American University in Washington, DC, Craft honed his musical style, which is centered around his remarkable lyrical ability, substantive songwriting, and boom-bap/jazz-infused sound. His music has been described as a mix of Logic's mainstream appeal, Joey Bada$$' classic New York grit, J. Cole's thoughtfulness, and Kendrick Lamar's social consciousness.

Craft's authenticity lies in his ability to shatter traditional hip-hop stereotypes. As a white college graduate, he is not a frat rapper, and he is unafraid to speak his mind on issues of social importance and justice. Craft released his free full-length mixtape, "Pieces," during his last semester of college in March 2015, which generated buzz in DC and NYC. In March 2016, he released an EP titled "so, what are you doing?" to great reception.

In June 2016, Marlon Craft was named one of the champions of TeamBackPack's annual Mission Underground festival and global competition, out of 650 emcees from around the world. In recent months, Craft has seen exponential growth in exposure, with his "Craftstyle" videos garnering millions of views. His consistent output of content, video singles, and more have earned him a sizable and growing international fanbase. Craft is a rising star in the hip-hop world, known for his powerful lyrics, social consciousness, and undeniable talent as a rapper.
