Akira Ræ - Sirens

Copied!edit Lyrics
original text at lyrnow.com/841662
Intro
Mm-mhm (Rae)
(Shut the channel down, shut the channel down)
How the siren sound go (Ah-ooh-oh)
How the siren sound go (Go)
Feels like it's always is versus them (I know right)
When will it end (Tell 'em)

Verse 1
Why they always taking all my people? (People)
Tryna break us 'fore we go home (Home)
We go, we go
Thinking how we lost all that we know
Humanity stripped
How will we grow (Oh, oh-oh, oh)
What will we tell our kids if we make it through this
In 2020 took enough hits (Damn, right)
Lost legends, activists, kids
I'm sick, enough of this shit
Ain't no color tell how long we live
Throw up a fist or take a lil' sit
It's not our anthem 'til they see us fit (Us fit)
No stars (Stars), just stripes
Give 'em hell 'til they see our light (We shine)
Yet still

Chorus
Hear the sirens come, come (Ah-ooh-oh)
Moving fast we never run (Never run)
With their badge and a gun
You can't steal what we've won
Are you done?

Refrain
(Yeah-ayy) How the siren sound go
How the siren sound go (Go-oh, oh-oh)

Verse 2
Hunting on the streets in the ghettos down south (South)
Looking for another way to keep us all out (Out)
Hungry for the young
Fighting for their lives (Lives)
Killing every black soul
Shooting them on sight
Say, where is the Miranda?
Where is Tamir Rice?
What happened to the justice we've been praying for all night?
Or are we paying for their vices? (Paying for their vices)
Yet still

Chorus
Hear the sirens come, come (Ah-ooh-oh, oh)
Moving fast we never run (Never run)
With their badge and a gun
Those cowards (Cowards, cowards)
You can't steal what we've won
Are you done?

Bridge
No hate crime investigation
For the country built on liberation
We free ourselves and victory is won
Remove power from a badge with a gun

Outro
And this is where we begin
And we begin to change the system
We begin to fight for justice
We're beginning to make sure
We make a change that don't just last a week
And doesn't last with one murder
And doesn't last with one man
It lasts for decades, for a lifetime
So our children can be better off
