Clever - Blanket On Me

To Rate
intro
War's too nasty (war's too nasty)

verse 1
Sometimes the ones you would die for
Are those that stand behind the gun
I know they wear my hand as a necklace
They're dead to me now that they're gone
I know that the love dies
I know that we cut ties
But i was not surprised all along

chorus
It's hard to sleep knowing
They trying to put a blanket on me
I pray to god have mercy on my soul
If i have to send 'em straight to hell, i will
If i have to go straight to jail, i will
If i have to go and pay the bail, i will
verse 2
Sometimes all they understand is my cold upper hand
On the mouth of those that breathe against me
I smoke another l and inhale
And i don't feel like i feel when i feel like i wanna see them bleed
Yeah, i know that we lost time
Just know when you cross mine
I'm throwing this glock 9 to your dome

chorus
It's hard to sleep knowing
They trying to put a blanket on me
I pray to god have mercy on my soul
If i have to send 'em straight to hell, i will
If i have to go straight to jail, i will
If i have to go and pay the bail, i will

Joshua “Josh” Tyler Huie, known by his stage name Clever, was born on July 8, 1985 in Gadsden, Alabama. Growing up in a musical household, Clever developed a passion for music at a young age. His older brother, Jason Huie, is also involved in the music industry.

Clever began his music career in 2006, releasing mixtapes and honing his craft. However, it was not until March 2019 that he gained widespread recognition after being featured on the late rapper Juice WRLD’s track “Ring Ring.” This collaboration opened doors for Clever, leading to more opportunities in the music industry.

In May 2019, Clever released a successful collaboration with NLE Choppa titled “Stick By My Side,” which further solidified his place in the hip-hop scene. Later that year, he teamed up with Justin Bieber and Post Malone for the hit single “Forever,” showcasing his versatility as an artist.

In April 2020, Clever signed a record deal with Republic Records, a major milestone in his career. With his unique blend of singing and rapping, Clever has been able to carve out his own lane in the music industry.

Currently, Clever is gearing up for the release of two upcoming projects. His solo album, Crazy, is set to be released in March 2021, while his collaborative project with fellow Alabama native NoCap, The Clever Child, is also in the works.

With his raw talent and distinctive style, Clever continues to captivate audiences and make a name for himself in the music world. His dedication to his craft and his passion for storytelling through music set him apart as a rising star in the industry.
