Matt Walden - But You Don't

To Rate
All my favorite memories
And now you are all my worst ones
Used to want a family but you won’t even rehearse now

You said you wanted bigger things
But you won’t do the work
& I’m certain that you’re hurting

But
You missed out on the life I’m living
Your pissed off cuz I’m out here gigging
I ripped up all the notes I’d written
You think you know what you want?
But you don't

One month & I’m out here grinning
You want space oh thats so fitting
Well here’s all of the fucks I’m giving

You think you know what you want
But you don't

No you don’t no no
No you don’t no no
No you don’t no
You think you know what you want but you

Took all of our animals
And made me leave our home (yeah)
Left me with thе couch and bed
But all I wanted was your love…. Sеat

You think you’re free but you’ll miss me
Yeah you know that I’m the one
& I’m certain (oh I'm so certain)
That you’re hurting (oh that you're hurting baby uh)

But
You missed out on the life I’m living
Your pissed off cuz I’m out here gigging
I ripped up all the notes I’d written
You think you know what you want?
But you don't

One month & I’m out here grinning
You want space oh thats so fitting
Well here’s all of the fucks I’m giving

You think you know what you want
But you don't

No you don’t no no
No you don’t no no
No you don’t no
You think you know what you want but you

I said some shit I'd never say
But you’re the reason I’m this way (reason I'm this way)
It could be easy if we stayed (mmm)

But I’m so certain (I'm so certain)
That you’re hurtin' (That you're hurting)
And this is curtains baby

(I think she needs a bandaid)
(and scene)
You missed out on the life I’m living
Your pissed off cuz I’m out here gigging
I ripped up all the notes I’d written

You think you know what you want?
But you don't

One month & I’m out here grinning (out here grinning)
You want space oh thats so fitting (that's so fitting)
Well here’s all of the fucks I’m giving

You think you know what you want
But you don't

No you don’t no no
No you don’t no no
No you don’t no
You think you know what you want but you don't

No you don’t no no
No you don’t no no (you don't know baby)
No you don’t no
You think you know what you want but you don't

Matt Walden

Music has always been my escape.

At the age of 15, I started writing songs in my room stemming from heartbreak and hormones. Posting originals and quick covers on YouTube of artists such as The Maine , All Time Low, & Ed Sheeran.

Come 2014, I moved out of the house and resided in my hometown of Bradenton, FL. to utilize the recording opportunities via the Del Couch Music Education Foundation. All in the meanwhile, building a small following via Vine (R.I.P.).

In the next few years, things got real.

I quit my job in 2015 to fully dedicate my time to creating music. During this time, some unfortunate events occurred & left me in a ‘homeless’ situation. Living on friends couches and spending each day in the studio working with Raven Chapman to create the ‘Life – EP’ released in 2015.

After that release, I had a bit of a revelation. Music was how I escape from all the rough patches in my life; what if I could help give that same type of escape to other people?

I wrote ‘Breathe.’ in October of 2016 about my dealings with suicide, depression & overall negative thoughts I had. Hoping to spark hope in not only myself but others who may be dealing with things similar to what I went through.

The goal is one thing. Create an escape for others.

Whether the songs are fun, sad, or confused; making each show & track about being someone else’s escape is the ultimate plan.
