Phoebe Bridgers - Safe at Home

To Rate
You've been biking indoors
You've been sleeping outside
And you're father's worried
But he knows god is on your side
Waiting and watching
The crack in your door
You'd give all your blood
For her step to your floor

Take one for your mother
One for the ride home
Lord knows it's gonna be a long trip
Be sure to dress warm
It'll be so cold
Rush inside in, hold your grip

You're in love with a girl
Who's in love with the world
And she's come to see you safe at home

She took the long way
Just to see what she'd find
While you sold your soul
To stay out of your mind
You cleaned the whole house
When you got the call
Left out the good records
But you don't miss her at all
Save New York, save Paris; Yes I know it's a lie
We all do it sometimes
When she asks how you are
Say you're just scraping by
Say she's been much too hard to find

Oh no, I don't know what to do
Now that I see
Oh, what will I do, what will she do
I know she needs me
She needs me

You're in love with a girl
Who's in love with the world
And she's come to see you safe
Oh, she's come to see you safe
Oh, she wants to know I'm safe
She needs me

Phoebe Lucille Bridgers, born on August 17, 1994, in Los Angeles, California, is an American singer-songwriter known for her introspective and hauntingly beautiful music. She discovered her passion for songwriting at a young age, penning her first song at just 11 years old. Throughout her adolescence, Bridgers honed her craft by performing at open mic nights and busking at farmers markets in her hometown.

At the age of 20, Bridgers made her official debut with the release of a three-song EP titled Killer. This EP garnered attention from the music industry, leading to a series of tour offers. Over the next two years, she toured with established artists such as Julien Baker and Violent Femmes, gaining valuable experience and exposure.

In September 2017, Bridgers released her highly acclaimed debut album, Stranger in the Alps. Drawing inspiration from iconic singer-songwriters like Elliott Smith and Leonard Cohen, as well as contemporary artists, Bridgers crafted a collection of emotionally raw and introspective songs that resonated with listeners.

In addition to her solo work, Bridgers is a member of the bands boygenius, a collaboration with Julien Baker and Lucy Dacus, and Better Oblivion Community Center, a project with Conor Oberst. These collaborations have allowed Bridgers to explore different musical styles and expand her creative horizons.

Bridgers' sophomore album, Punisher, was released in the summer of 2020 to widespread critical acclaim. The album delves into themes of depression, isolation, and coming-of-age, showcasing Bridgers' growth as an artist and songwriter. Punisher earned Bridgers three nominations at the 63rd Annual GRAMMY Awards, including Best Alternative Music Album, solidifying her status as one of the most talented and innovative musicians of her generation.
