Tora - Call Your Name 1

To Rate
intro
Don't take this worn defense of mine and call it broken
Habit of holding shards
And claiming i was chosen
We weigh it all by the thorns we grow

chorus
Rest assured i know i’m burdened by assumption
Call your name out high
Till i feel forever and not just the night
All that i have when the lights are out telling you i've tried
But it figures it dims when you're not in my sight
Please can you tell me why

verse 1
Doesn’t bother you none
That i won't ever know both sides
Roll it back to our waters
Only good when you're tied
Last time you paid the price
Same way i took advice

chorus
Rest assured i know i'm burdened by assumption
Call your name out high
Till i feel forever and not just the night
All that i have when the lights are out telling you i've tried
But it figures it dims when you're not in my sight
Please can you tell me why

verse 2
They don't write stories bout women like me
Say that the flow
Misses our feet
Don't pass go no
Straight to jail please
Heard bout euphoria
Something bout release
Such things don’t stay round here
We only know about tears
Counterfeit love
Give just enough
Make me believe there’s more to us
Than a conditional tie
But what's worse
Same old story
We all serve

chorus
Call your name out high
Till i feel forever and not just the night
All that i have when the lights are out telling you i’ve tried
But it figures it dims when you're not in my sight
Please can you tell me why
Call your name out high
Till i feel forever and not just the night
All that i have when the lights are out telling you i've tried
But it figures it dims when you're not in my sight
Couldn’t make my high

Tora

Tora is an Australian electronic band that was formed in Byron Bay, New South Wales in May 2013. The band's name, stylized as TΩRA, comes from the Greek word "τώρα" which means now, reflecting their philosophy of living in the present moment. The band consists of four members - Shaun Johnston, Jo Loewenthal, Jai Piccone, and Thorne Davis.

In their early years, Tora released two EPs, titled TORA (2013) and Eat the Sun (2014), which garnered them attention in the Australian music scene. Their unique blend of electronic music with soulful vocals and intricate production caught the ears of many listeners. In 2015, they released their full-length debut album High Enough, which featured songs from their EPs as well as new tracks.

Following the success of their debut album, Tora released their second album Take A Rest in June 2017 on eightydays records. The album showcased the band's growth and maturity, with a more polished sound and introspective lyrics. Tracks like "Another Case" and "Too Much" received critical acclaim and solidified Tora's place in the electronic music landscape.

In 2019, Tora released their third album Can’t Buy the Mood, also via eightydays records. The album further solidified their reputation as one of Australia's most exciting electronic bands, with tracks like "Morphine" and "Paramount" showcasing their evolution as artists.

With their dreamy soundscapes, lush production, and soulful vocals, Tora has carved out a unique niche in the electronic music world. Their music is a blend of electronic, indie, and R&B influences, creating a sound that is both contemporary and timeless. As they continue to push boundaries and experiment with their sound, Tora remains a band to watch in the Australian music scene and beyond.
