Phoebe Bridgers - Night Shift

verse 1
The first time i tasted somebody else's spit, i had a coughing fit
I mistakenly called them by your name
I was let down, it wasn't the same
I'm doing fine, trying to derail my one-track mind
Regaining my self-worth in record time
But i can't help but think of your other in the bed that was mine
Am i a masochist, resisting urges to punch you in the teeth?
Call you a bitch and leave?
Why did i come here? to sit and watch you stare at your feet?
What was the plan? absolve your guilt and shake hands?

chorus
I feel no need to forgive, but i might as well
But let me kiss your lips, so i know how it felt
Pay for my coffee and lеave before thе sun goes down
Walk for hours in the dark, feeling all hell

verse 2
Don't hold your breath, forget you ever saw me at my best
You don't deserve what you don't respect
Don't deserve what you say you love and then neglect
Now bite your tongue, it's too dangerous to fall so young
Take back what you said
Can't lose what you never had
chorus
I feel no need to forgive, but i might as well
But let me kiss your lips, so i know how it felt
Pay for my coffee and leave before the sun goes down
Walk for hours in the dark, feeling all hell

refrain
You got a 9-to-5, so i'll take the night shift
And i'll never see you again, if i can help it
In five years, i hope the songs feel like covers
Dedicated to new lovers

refrain
You got a 9-to-5, so i'll take the night shift
And i'll never see you again, if i can help it
In five years, i hope the songs feel like covers
Dedicated to new lovers

refrain
You got a 9-to-5, so i'll take the night shift
And i'll never see you again, if i can help it
In five years, i hope the songs feel like covers
Dedicated to new lovers

Phoebe Bridgers

Phoebe Lucille Bridgers, born on August 17, 1994, in Los Angeles, California, is an American singer-songwriter known for her introspective and hauntingly beautiful music. She discovered her passion for songwriting at a young age, penning her first song at just 11 years old. Throughout her adolescence, Bridgers honed her craft by performing at open mic nights and busking at farmers markets in her hometown.

At the age of 20, Bridgers made her official debut with the release of a three-song EP titled Killer. This EP garnered attention from the music industry, leading to a series of tour offers. Over the next two years, she toured with established artists such as Julien Baker and Violent Femmes, gaining valuable experience and exposure.

In September 2017, Bridgers released her highly acclaimed debut album, Stranger in the Alps. Drawing inspiration from iconic singer-songwriters like Elliott Smith and Leonard Cohen, as well as contemporary artists, Bridgers crafted a collection of emotionally raw and introspective songs that resonated with listeners.

In addition to her solo work, Bridgers is a member of the bands boygenius, a collaboration with Julien Baker and Lucy Dacus, and Better Oblivion Community Center, a project with Conor Oberst. These collaborations have allowed Bridgers to explore different musical styles and expand her creative horizons.

Bridgers' sophomore album, Punisher, was released in the summer of 2020 to widespread critical acclaim. The album delves into themes of depression, isolation, and coming-of-age, showcasing Bridgers' growth as an artist and songwriter. Punisher earned Bridgers three nominations at the 63rd Annual GRAMMY Awards, including Best Alternative Music Album, solidifying her status as one of the most talented and innovative musicians of her generation.
