Temperance Lancecouncil - You Cain't Cage A Bird

Copied!edit Lyrics

VERSE
Look at the pretty bird
Sings exotical words
Ever so pretty sound
Even perched on the ground
And when you pick it up
Even when you dress it up
Tweety in a saucer cup
Sill a disaster struck
The pieces broke away
When ’Pretty’ didn't get its way
Couldn't wait for freedom day
Just to fly away
You cain't make it stay
Broken wings still get away
Still broken again today
So let it fly away

Chorus
Cause you cain't cage a bird
When it just wanna be heard
You cain't cage a bird
So let it fly away

VERSE
Older man with means
New bird on the scene
Just an innocent shade of green
From its mama's nеst
Striding down the street
Pretty bird ain't had enough to еat
Hunger; tweet, tweet, tweet
But it's filled with pride
And a juvenile stride
In comes big, man boss
With his millions, he does toss
Carriage and a castle high
Still pretty bird cries
Why would you clip its wings?
When ‘Pretty’ just wants to sing
That won't the thing to do
Making pretty bird blue

Chorus
Cause you cain't cage a bird
When it just wanna be heard
You cain't cage a bird
So let it fly away

BRIDGE
It never ventured out
Never knew what freedom's about
Hearing ‘Pretty's’ soprano shout
And your ears tuned out
Now you got no say
Sign the paper, it’s freedom day
Free and legal to fly and play
A new birthday

OUTRO
And it’s gonna fly
Up to the sky
Real, real high

Chorus
Cause you cain't cage a bird
When it just wanna be heard
Now why cain't you be a friend
And let the fairy-tale end

Biography

edit bio
Southern-born TEMPERANCE LANCECOUNCIL is a singer/songwriter currently headquartered in Southern Calif. She has great aspirations of moving back South (Nashville, TN)!

She’s described as a nitty-gritty, country-soul singer as her style is pure country, but she pours her “red dirt” soul into every song. At an early age she believed the red dirt that she played in was clay; and that’s right about the time her mother began teaching her three-part harmony. Like many children, she sang in the youth choir at church and in her high school’s concert choir.

Some years later, in California, she organized and fronted her own band in the nineties and like many bands – the band hit rough spots and she went solo.

Although currently optimistic about her life and music, her formative years got off to a rough start. She overcame two bouts of life-threatening, double pneumonia as an infant, and was then hit by a near-fatal case of scarlet fever as a second-grader. Not letting any of that derail her, the ex-cheerleader, homecoming queen and pageant girl, kept her eye on the prize, and has since released several singles. “My Restraining Order (Won’t Do),” is about one more of her true-life, rough spots. The brash sound in her delivery reflects the bravado and grittiness of her life.

There’s a message of ‘overcoming an obstacle’ and ‘empowerment’ in ALL of her songs; which are on YouTube under Temperance Lancecouncil’s songs.
