Better Than Ezra - Omens

Copied!edit Lyrics
original text at lyrnow.com/1993511
Everything has a double meaning
Nothing's ever what it seems
Spend eternity still believing
What becomes of you and me
Are you a friend of mine
Or just a warning sign?
If we could go back in the past, love
Crazy what we could find
DVR decisions good and bad, love
Make those wrong things right
Were you a friend of mine
Or just a warning sign?

Omens, omens, telling me to run
Louder than life but I don't listen

Darling I'm a sucker for disaster
Spinning on a razor's edge
Nobody can see into the future
Why should we live with regret?
Are you still a friend of mine
Or just a warning sign?

Omens, omens, telling me to run
Louder than life but I don't listen
See Better Than Ezra LiveGet tickets as low as $29Nothing that I want is ever what I need
Somewhere in the middle of two extremes
Happiness and horror in a lucid dream
What are you holding for me now?
Tell me the future
What are you holding for me now?

Omens, omens, telling me to run
Louder than life but I don't listen
Omens
Omens
Louder than life but I don't listen

"Omens" by Better Than Ezra is a song that delves into the concept of double meanings and the uncertainty of the future. The lyrics speak to the idea that nothing is ever as it seems and that decisions made in the past can have lasting consequences. The song ponders whether certain relationships are genuine friendships or merely warning signs of impending trouble. Despite the warnings and omens that may be present, the narrator refuses to heed them, choosing to live in the moment and embrace the unknown. The song's catchy melody and introspective lyrics make it a thought-provoking and engaging listen.

Biography

edit bio
Better than Ezra is a college rock group in the literal sense – it was formed by four students at Louisiana State University in 1988. Two of those four – Kevin Griffin (vocals and guitar) & Tom Drummond (bass guitar) – have been the constant core of the group. The third, guitarist Joel Rundell, died before the group signed its first recording contract. The fourth, drummer Cary Bonnecaze, left the group acrimoniously after their first major-label album went platinum.

Griffin and Drummond decided to keep Better than Ezra going by hiring a new guitarist/keyboardist, James Arthur Payne Jr., and a new drummer, Travis McNabb. McNabb left on good terms in 2009, and Michael Jerome took over the drums.
