Rival Waves - What She Could Be

Copied!edit Lyrics
original text at lyrnow.com/1994584
She starts the day off
With a lack of conversation
No one around
With an ear to lend
What she could be
Is everything that matters
Yes, she is
So much more than you know

The wind blows cold
On her stoic countenance
She turns her collar up
To face the world again
What she could be
Is at the heart of the matter
What she can be
Is anything she wants

I don't pretend
To comprehend
This funny thing
It's you
It's me
It's life

The clock ticks away
Another lonely existence
Hard-hearted
She trudges on
What she could be
Is the only thing that matters
What she is
Is light
Pure light
Pure!
I don't pretend
To comprehend
This funny thing
It's you
It's me
It's life

The sleepless nights
The numbing drain
She will not be broken
The lonely heart
That dreams in vain
She will not be broken
The restless mind
The games we play
She will not be broken
She won't break
She won't break
She won't break

She won't break

I don't pretend
To comprehend
This funny thing
It's you
It's me
It's life
It's you
It's me
It's...life

It's you
It's me
It's life

It's you
It's me
It's life

Biography

edit bio
Rival Waves is an American rock band from Austin, Texas. Blending propulsive, guitar-fueled sonics with a relentlessly fearless post-punk aesthetic, Rival Waves marry distortion-soaked, hard driving rhythms with anthemic arena-ready choruses that have earned the band initial comparisons to Pearl Jam and U2. Make no mistake, though – armed with a drive to create a meaningful connection between art and audience, a focused DIY ethos centered on the convergence of music and technology, a proclivity towards consistent musical experimentation, and an earnest commitment to topics ranging from the intimately personal to the sociopolitical, Rival Waves take their cues from Fugazi as much as they do Foo Fighters.

The project began as concept singer/songwriter Joel De La Garza developed to leverage disruptive tech to meaningfully engage with fans in an ever-changing music industry. Entrenched in a South Austin studio, he began writing and recording material that would be the band’s musical blueprints. This led to collaborations with some of the genre’s best musicians – including members of Pearl Jam, Linkin Park, Nine Inch Nails, and Hans Zimmer.

During these sessions, De La Garza realized his desire to turn this studio project into a live rock n' roll band. In 2016, guitarists Marc Schulz and Erik Salinas joined the collective – and Rival Waves was born.

On the heels of the band’s first two single releases in 2017, the band released their debut album, TRANSDUCER, in 2018. After supporting the album locally and regionally, and releasing another single, “Hwy 100” in July 2019, the band decided it was time to do release a follow-up more representative of the band’s growth since its formation. Working with Grammy-nominated producer Chris “Frenchie” Smith, the band went back into studio in December 2019 to record their as-yet-untitled second album due out in Spring 2020.
