First things first
Let me give an intro to the dreamer
He never sleep, but he think that he been cursed
So he fights, everyday with a mean verse
On a run, he escapes til his knees hurt
Poverty can convert to a mean person
He would rather leave Earth than to be served
So he always go hard when the beat burst
From the speakers, see the scars on his sneakers?

Hе would dance for a chance just to leavе work
He would stand on his hands like a lemur
He had plans to advance with a clean shirt
But life said, "nigga, that ain't how things work"
Heart broke in the past, could it be worse?
17, he was out in the streets burnt
18, family in the mean turfs
He was silent, his wounds grew deeper

Started writing his pain in a notebook
All bars, straight facts nigga no hook
Freestyles in the car with his bro's, look
Could've froze on the road, cuz the cold took
All the heat in his hands, it was no good around him
Stood no chance, so his soul cooked
Up a plan to escape from the dark nights
And the days that he prayed he'd be alright
What you know about seeing niggas seize up?
Pedophiles in the stall, don't freeze up
Gotta sleep with a knife on the concrete
Cuz a motherfucker might try to get tee'd up
What you know about begging to strangers?
When they spit in your face, outta anguish
Niggas never knew all the pain in my life
So I highlight, now you niggas in danger

Yeah

I'm a, mother fucking legend bitch
Wrestled with my inner demons
Had me on depressive shit
Back on fire, it's my element
An asexual celibate freak, hetero leaning though
Federal threat to the quo status
I am so balanced, I can stall in the air on my wrist
Haters can learn how to take an airchair on my dick

Bitch you ain't telling me shit
I was killing my spelling bee's
All while conjuring these melodies from the abyss
Marcus told me, I'm the one
Chiodo told me, I'm the one
Daniel told me my potential for instrumentals
Was beyond the whole scope of the sun
Tongue is a rifle, I don't got no time for these idols
You hold in the flaps of your gums
Granny saw the city of Chicago turn from city to swamp
Grandpa lost his momma, found himself killing and drilling in 'Nam
Uncle was gangbangin
Auntie was B-girl-ing like them folks in the Bronx
Poppa was crack slanging
Momma was modeling GAP on the track to a star

Bitch, this one's for my cities though
An Orwellian Roselle-ian emerging from outta the burbs
Mixed with a (vill)ain from Naper, they give me the paper
Just for being saxy, absurd
East side til I die, back in the field, that's where my Pops from
West side when ride through in Chicago, that's my Mom home
I've been ducking police shootings, I've been studying Lee's movies
That's a nod here to Bruce, in my youth I was Batman
Uncle Jimmy was Robin, y'all do not have a clue
I was walking the hallways, my portfolio all stained
By the paint on my shoe
I was studying Em's verse, using music to give birth
To my passion for truth

I was breakin' to rock beats
I would see people copy, all the things I would do
I was reading my manga and philosophy mantras
I would come to pursue
Had nobody to chill with, I was sharpening skillsets
I would use to refute
The idea that you can't win, if you deal with yo hand and
Then you choose to be YOU!

Joey the Dreamer is an artist of many influences, but those influences can be summed up with 4 words. Rock, Rap, Anime, and Jazz. Born September 24, 1996; The saxophonist turned songwriter lived out his early childhood in Springfield, IL where the seeds of his musical talents were planted. Following the separation of his parents, he lived out the majority of his adolescent days with his grandparents, mother, 2 younger brothers, and older half sister in the Chicago suburb of Roselle, IL where he picked up the saxophone. Music quickly became his primary outlet to escape from the social turmoil he faced both in the classroom and at home as he came face to face with the tribulations of adjusting to a new environment where the majority of his peers lacked familial, cultural or economic similarities.

Heavily influenced by popular music artists of the early 2000’s in most genres, he gravitated towards songwriters with a message of perseverance, yet articulated pain as a source of inspiration. In 2014 on his birthday, a familial dispute led to him, his mother, and 2 younger brothers to be homeless, seeking the help of strangers to get by, for nearly 1 whole year. It was during this time he came to question his world view and society as a whole.

In time, his situation was remedied, but the lessons of survival remained. Those hardships, failures, and successes yet to come, all have shaped him into the provocative writer, musician, artist, and philosopher that he is today. This is Joey the Dreame
