Verse 1
See the people all in line
What's making them look at me?
Can't imagine that their minds
Are thinkin' the same as me

Chorus
I can hear the grass grow
I can hear the grass grow
I see rainbows in the evening

Verse 2
My head's attracted to
A magnetic wave of sound
With the streams of coloured circles
Makin' their way around

Chorus
I can hear the grass grow
I can hear the grass grow
I see rainbows in the evening

Instrumental Break

Bridge
Can't seem to puzzle out the signs
My senses color my grown mind
Get a hold of yourself, now, baby
See, I need you to help, now, baby
Gеt a hold of yourself, now, baby

Verse 3
Put your head down to the ground
And listеn to your mind
If you can't spell what you found
I know that you're not my kind

Chorus
I can hear the grass grow
I can hear the grass grow
I see rainbows in the evening

Bridge
Can't seem to puzzle out the signs
My senses color my grown mind
Get a hold of yourself, now, Stewart
See, I need you to help, now, baby
Get a hold of yourself, now, baby

Verse 4
See the people all in line
What's making them look at me?
Can't imagine that their minds
Are thinkin' the same as me

Chorus
I can hear the grass grow
I can hear the grass grow
I see rainbows in the evening
We can hear the weeds grow
We can hear the weeds grow
I see rainbows in the evening

Biography

edit bio
Brothers John and Richard Dunsterville performed in the early 1960s in a band called the Force Four, playing vocal harmony led music.
In college they met drummer Stewart Osborn his friend Roger Newell a bassist. They formed Rainbow Ffolly together in 1967. They recorded a demo tape in the Jackson recording studio and the brothers running it, Malcolm and John, took the tape to EMI to secure a record contract. EMI bought the rights to the tape as-is and released it as “Sallies Fforth”. The band was pleased with the confidence shown by EMI on the material but were unhappy that they didn’t get a chance to overdub some of the instruments, especially the guitars were not up to par according to the brothers Dunsterville. The band toured extensively, including a month in Hamburg’s Star Club of Beatles' fame and a stint at London’s fashionable Playboy club. Despite positive press the album did not sell well and with insufficient returns from the tours to live on the band decided to call it quits and look for other work at the end of 1968. In the years after John and Roger played with Rick Wakeman’s English Rock Ensemble in the 70s, and Stewart worked on the models for the Thunderbirds TV series. In 2016 the band reformed without Richard to release “Ffollow Up!”, consisting of an eclectic set of tracks written over the past decades and encompassing just about any musical and comedy style imaginable.
