Time - Yellow Rose in a Parking Lot

Copied!edit Lyrics
original text at lyrnow.com/2025134
He saw a yellow rose in a parking lot what did it mean?
He saw his reflection in the window wearing a garment of leaves
The concrete sighed, guilty of what it was hiding
It was providing a barrier between us and Gaia
He saw the future, he saw black snow and ash fall
But he found promise in the cracks in the asphalt
Nature fights back a blade of grass makes the axe fall
Our ancestors never needed borders and passports
We used to share seeds now we testify in tax court
Tell the devil you don’t fear em and he'll take his mask off
That's when you realize you're looking in the mirror at yourself
Mistaking enemies for the trauma that you were dealt
This morning I was on the carpet, picturing my cold end
Being choked by the frozen arm of the ocean
Sometimes I see the bloody foam, the sea glows red
I looked the red rider in the eye and off he went
I spit a verse he turns to flames I watch the ash go
I invade my shadow's castle put black flags on flagpoles
Flow sick like a bad cold, eat beats like black holes
I’m underground I wrote this with an earthworm in a rat hole
Let my words be shovels for those feeling trapped though
My friend was trying to be sober he never really had goals
He tried to heal his sad soul inhaling smoke through glass bowls
How many of us are still running from our dad though?
In the history of earth I’m not even a tadpole
I guess I’m waiting for my metamorphosis to grab hold
I love every version of me, my present I cherish it
I’m cutting the wires disarming the bombs I inherited
Living is when the past and future become unimportant
We can have it all if we all take a portion
He thought about the yellow rose thorns and temptation
The petals blew in the wind and needed no explanation

edit bio
Time was a rock band from Yugoslavia that made a significant impact on the music scene in the 1970s. Formed in 1971 by Dado Topić, who had previously been a member of Korni Grupa, the band quickly gained a following with their unique blend of progressive rock and jazz influences.

The original lineup of Time included Dado Topić on vocals, Tihomir “Pop” Asanović on organ, Vedran Božić on guitar, Mario Mavrin on bass, Ratko Divjak on drums, and Brane Lambert Živković on piano and flute. Over the years, the lineup changed frequently, but the core members remained dedicated to creating innovative and captivating music.

Time released three albums during their time together, each showcasing their musical versatility and talent. Their first album featured a prominent Hammond organ, piano, and flute, while their second album had a harder sound with several ballads. The third album introduced a jazz-funk production style, further expanding their musical repertoire.

Some of Time's most popular songs include “Da li znaš da te volim”, “Rock ‘n’ roll u Beogradu”, and “Istina mašina”, which showcased their ability to create memorable and engaging music that resonated with audiences.

After disbanding in late 1977, Dado Topić embarked on a successful solo career, but the legacy of Time continued to live on. In 1998 and 2001, the band reunited for a limited number of live concerts, delighting fans with their timeless music and energetic performances.

Today, Time still plays together as a rock trio, continuing to captivate audiences with their unique sound and enduring musical legacy. Their influence can be heard in the work of many contemporary artists, solidifying their place in the history of Yugoslavian rock music.
