(layered vocalization of Pakistani street vendor calling out in Arabic)

VERSE

Lies leave your lips and lace them
Leave them like a bullet
Shells cast a spell while you're spilling stuff you shouldn't
I'm working til the morning
You living for a break
Fake it till you make it
You'll never make it while you fake

VERSE

No heavy artillery guns
But think you're glorious
(?) stories
My people tore it up
Talk like you're swinging
It's bringing you (?) stiff
You'll be telling your tall tales with hollow tips

PREChorus

Who is gonna tell it to you time (?)
I'm the one who lays it on the line

Chorus 2X

But you're good at the gunsmoke and mirrors
Big bang, no bullets
So trigger happy
Too scared to pull it
Gunsmoke and mirrors
You're good at gunsmoke and mirrors

Yeah yeah

VERSE

All flex, no fight
All bark, no bite
All hind, no sight
That's what, you're like

VERSE

When you're tussled with you get trifling
You get ruffled up when you are rifled with
Act so holy but you ain't divine with it
Don't understand let me decipher it

VERSE
Say you shoot from the hip but you trippin
You just act for the likes then you skip it
Can't relate cause I handle my business
I'll be the judge while you're the defendant
Hick

VERSE

Called out and you're going ballistic
All the smoke no fire existed
Safety off I'm coming in rimless
Speed reload and I got you when you're finished
Slick

PRE Chorus

Who is going down to die
I'm the one who lays it on the line

Chorus 2X

But you're good at the gunsmoke and mirrors
Big bang, no bullets
So trigger happy
Too scared to pull it
Gunsmoke and mirrors
You're good at gunsmoke and mirrors
Yeah yeah

BRIDGE

Do, die
Do or die
Do or die
Do or die

Everybody knows
I didn't start the fight
But when we get into it
You ain't turning out the llights

PRE Chorus

Everybody knows
When it comes to do or die
I'm the only one whose gonna lay it on the line

But you're good at the gunsmoke and mirrors
Big bang, no bullets

"Amira Unplugged - Gunsmoke and Mirrors" is a powerful song that delves into the theme of deception and false bravado. The lyrics paint a vivid picture of someone who talks a big game but lacks the substance to back it up. The layered vocalization of a Pakistani street vendor calling out in Arabic adds a unique and haunting element to the song.

The verses highlight the contrast between empty boasts and true strength, as the protagonist calls out the superficiality of their counterpart. The chorus emphasizes the idea of putting on a show with smoke and mirrors, creating a facade of power without actually possessing it.

The bridge and pre-chorus underline the idea of facing challenges head-on and laying it all on the line, contrasting with the cowardice and deceit of the other party. Overall, "Amira Unplugged - Gunsmoke and Mirrors" is a bold and unapologetic anthem that exposes the truth behind false bravado.

Biography

edit bio
Amira Unplugged is a genre- bending artist who blends orchestral elements with rock-soul, hip hop, funk, country, and pop. Her upbringing as a (d)eaf African American Muslim woman in the South caused her to aspire to make music that unifies. By crossing genre lines with universal themes of triumph, darkness, and hope, Amira aims to bring together vastly different people who typically may not listen to the same music. Her hearing impairment also informs a great deal of her music, causing her to add unique textural elements to her original work. Her tagline “writing the soundtrack to your life“ emphasizes the fact that each piece is created to serve as the backing track of the listener’s most important moments- she views life as a series of short films that need to be scored. Amira’s style caused her to grow exponentially online in a short period of time, leading her to become the first runner up of the inaugural season of “Becoming A Popstar” from MTV and TikTok. Her dedicated following also earned her the title of fan favorite on the program three weeks in a row. She was recently selected as a member of the Pepsi and United Masters Music Lab Class of 2022-2023, and intends to use this platform to spread more positivity through uniquely universal music. In a world where listeners’ playlists are more diverse and eclectic than ever, artists like Amira Unplugged represent what listeners are seeking next.
