BROCKHAMPTON - BACKGROUND

Copied!edit Lyrics
original text at lyrnow.com/2049093
Intro: Kevin Abstract
All week, I been running from blue
Thinkin’ bout how all your tattoos faded away
The blue blue truck would come and pick you up
Mom and pop sayin’ you might not make it today
I would stand outside for ya
I would go to war online for ya
I would, put my hands to the sky for ya
I, I, I, I

Verse 1: JOBA & Kevin Abstract
I lose a two, to do for you is nothing
I built around, but
Work it though, I always know it’s something
They don’t know yet
Dirty secrets, top secret
Just let me know
You can keep it, can you keep it?
Aw shit

Chorus: Kevin Abstract & Ryan Beatty
I ain’t no background (Ah, ah, ah)
I don’t like bein’ passed around (Ah, ah, ah)
I’ll knock the wind down
But I ain’t tryna keep up with you (I ain’t tryna keep up with you)
I ain’t no background (Ah, ah, ah)
I just wanna leave this town (Ah, ah, ah)
I’ll chase the wind down
I ain’t tryna keep up with you (I ain’t tryna keep up with you)
Ah, ah, ah
Ah, ah, ah
I ain’t tryna keep up with you (I ain’t tryna keep up with you)

Verse 2: Matt Champion
Dim the light, ay yeah
Takin’ five, ay yeah
What’s your problem, what you doin’, come outside
What you like, ay yeah
I’m surprised, ay yeah
What you doin’, how you been, are we alive?
We in the bay tryna get closer
The music loud and I can’t hear a thing
She wanna roll up on some marijuana
And I don’t smoke like everybody think
Them peaches sweet like they was baked in Georgia
And you know what you got, and everything
I wanted to see on the balcony, baby
All them years chasing what, and what you save me
Got it all up in the locker like davey

Biography

edit bio
BROCKHAMPTON is an LA-based boyband that was originally formed in San Marcos, Texas in 2015. The group was founded by high school friends Ian “Kevin Abstract” Simpson and Ameer Vann, who initially formed a group called ALIVESINCEFOREVER in 2012. After releasing their debut EP, The ASF EP, in 2013, the group disbanded at the end of 2014 and rebranded themselves as BROCKHAMPTON.

The band consists of a diverse roster of creatives, including musicians, graphic designers, producers, and videographers, who come together to create a mix of content. Named after the street that Kevin Abstract grew up on in Corpus Christi, TX, BROCKHAMPTON was founded out of a desire for connection and friendship.

In 2015, BROCKHAMPTON gained recognition with the release of their song “Dirt” on A-Trak’s Fool’s Gold Records, marking a breakthrough moment in their career. The following year, they released their debut mixtape, ALL-AMERICAN TRASH, and in 2017, they gained popularity with the release of their debut album, SATURATION, followed by SATURATION II and SATURATION III later that year.

After signing with RCA Records in 2018, the band faced challenges with the dismissal of rapper Ameer Vann due to sexual assault allegations. Despite this setback, BROCKHAMPTON released their fourth album, iridescence, which debuted at number one on the Billboard 200 Albums Chart. The album marked the beginning of a new trilogy titled THE BEST YEARS OF OUR LIVES.

In 2019, BROCKHAMPTON released their fifth full-length record, GINGER, which showcased their versatility and creativity as a group. With a lineup that includes members such as Kevin Abstract, Matt Champion, Merlyn Wood, Dom McLennon, Russell “Joba” Boring, and more, BROCKHAMPTON continues to push boundaries and redefine the boyband genre with their unique sound and collaborative spirit.
