When i was just a little boy, mom and dad had a plan
Took me to the theater, popcorn in my hand
The screen lit up with magic, everyone in awe
But i saw something different, something raw

E.t. with his glowing heart, his finger in the air
Everyone saw a friend, but i saw a nightmare
I tried to look away, but the image stayed so strong
I knew that night, something would go wrong

That night i lay there shivering
As shadows danced upon my wall
I closed my eyes, tried to forget
But then i heard a haunting call

In my dream, he crept inside
With glowing eyes and fingers long
Missy barked, then fell silent
In the maw of that beast, she was gone

E.t. ate my dog!
I swear it's true!
That night i dreamed, and the nightmare grew!
Missy was gone, vanished without a trace --
I saw her slurped inside that monster's face!
I woke up screaming, called for my folks
They rushed in, turned on the light
"it's just a dream," they said to me
"everything will be alright."

But missy’s bed was empty
Her collar on the floor
We searched the house, we searched the yard
But we never saw her anymore

E.t. ate my dog!
I swear it's true!
That night i dreamed, and the nightmare grew!
Missy was gone, vanished without a trace --
I saw her slurped inside that monster's face!

Now i’m grown, and i still recall
The terror from that night
E.t.’s face on tv screens
Still fills me with fright

My parents say it’s silly
A movie can’t eat your dog
But i know what i saw that night
And the memory’s like a fog
E.t. ate my dog!
