Intro
Dreamin' a life
Dreamin' a life
Where the money ain't tight

Verse 1
For my clique to succeed, how many soldiers must bleed?
We just wanna live comfortable, spread our seed and carry on our breed
Each of us need an old school indeed
Candy paint, drop-top, gold thangs, call it greed
So it be, we also want a Benz 500 SE laced with chrome
SUV for the family, seven bedroom, four bath home
Floors made out of marble stone, swimmin' pool with a waterfall
Record company checks pay the bills, nobody's gotta ball
Plus we'll take a dime from every dollar that we make so
We can pack and stack up more artillery than Waco
Ain't no fits like thе ones we got
I'm talkin' Dickies and Cortеz in colors they don't stock
And every homie got a pitbull, refrigerator packed full
Plus a bar with every liquor imaginable
Snoop would be out of the hole, back with his folks livin' the finer ways
With hand painted portraits of dead homies above the fire place
We won't let money change us, but still beware of strangers
Remainin' soldiers, streets have showed us jealous men are dangerous
Right now, a four-car garage is just a mirage
But just the thought of such a life keeps me strugglin' for the cause

Chorus
Dreamin' a life (dreamin' a life) where the money ain't tight
And every ride's dipped in candy
Triple gold reflections shine bright (shine bright)
We all got a house on a hill
Everybody got a crop of the kill
As we smoke, drink, kick back and chill
We divide up another million dollar bill

Verse 2
I know they hear me crying out, but ain't nobody wanna hear me
Out here struggling for some play and losing handy, life is deadly
Every night, I close my eyes and all I dream about is
Real homies just looking out for one another, staying true when love has failed
By everyone, ain't no more sad trippin' player-hatin'
Conversating on the next, or jealousy or which are fake
Everybody's pockets stuffed with portraits of past presidents
Parlaying each of our rivalries, status for its residents
Won't see nobody strugglin', all our needs is fulfilled
The day-to-day drama's unheard of, we only got the chill
Blaze that molly, get to chokin' like it's goin' out of style
Folks be quick to throw up peace signs, no mugging, only smile
Women by the flock, so you see on every block
It's not just custom rainbows and that candy
Gold nipples or spokes, we triple-coast
No boasting or bragging 'cause everybody got the same plug
It's one love from coast to coast
So kick back, you immense folks
Now if I may propose a toast to those of y'all who feel my pain
The fact remains, if we don't make a change, the gang gon' stay the same
But if we can think it, we can do it, nothing to it
Hold my dreams close, and in this life, I'll strive for the most

Chorus
Dreamin' a life (dreamin' a life) where the money ain't tight
And every ride's dipped in candy
Triple gold reflections shine bright (shine bright)
We all got a house on a hill
Everybody got a crop of the kill
As we smoke, drink, kick back and chill
We divide up another million dollar bill

Verse 3
If it's my fantasy, we live lavishly
Reality's endless salary
Haters ain't mad at me, no more insanity
Awful tragedy, loss of family
Have it weird at them, hella bad
From selling sacks to the shelves, goin' plat
Fall off the ball from having it all
Funded we dogs all when your mail goes splat
And there ain't no pat, but my brain's on scratch, and it stays on that
Big dreams of having bags
The engine's financed, a dream built classics, got some candy paint
It's a Cali fad, and how we had
Like millionaires, we're stealing stairs
Tripped a lot to go with marble floors
Some solid oak, get carved in stone
To statues of loved ones passed
And when you don't have to run for this
You know invading pose on your head-y, no more way end up on your digi
We be blazing mini drink and reapin' haters envy endlessly
But it does not bother, my poppers got dollars from choppers
With their own spot and their own yacht
Private jets, life at its best
Whatever it is, we can afford it, this club is enormous
Fortune of our fortune is slinging units of music and the money is pourin'
Gorgeous, not just jockers take every other day
I feel the zone, get with my folks
Get back to blonde, just as every bitch I've ever known
No hustle, no more struggle, we bought a room, seems like a cathedral
Throw this up like players on the way up to Vegas, he blow 20 Gs at the casino
Know the standard's the savage, lavish, I live in a palace with millions of assets
Drive limousines, dine fine cuisines, 'cause in my dreams, we live like kings

Chorus
Dreamin' a life (dreamin' a life) where the money ain't tight
And every ride's dipped in candy
Triple gold reflections shine bright (shine bright)
We all got a house on a hill
Everybody got a crop of the kill
As we smoke, drink, kick back and chill
We divide up another million dollar bill

Verse 4
Yeah, we hop on a flight and touch down in Tahiti
Or even the Caribbean, Hawaii, or Fiji
Just make it tropical with lots of blue water and white sand
We wanna be greeted by native beauties when the flight lands
Check into a five-star hotel, rent the top floor
With ocean views to die for, no thoughts about what cost more
We'll meet down on the beach, homies, throw your cut-off cacks on
There's hundreds of notches in bikinis to get your mack on
Then we'll slide on up to some bar they call the Island Hut
Sittin' on the oceanfront, roll a blunt and light it up
Order up margaritas, coconut coolers with tequila
Appetizers to feed us, topped off with lobster fajitas
Now that would be the life, my anger's at ease
I can hear the ocean breeze blowin' through the palm trees
As the sun sinks slowly and the stars ignite
Bikini models talkin' about "Let's rendezvous tonight"
Who would believe we outlaws had a trick up our sleeve
That would allow us to live and enjoy life's luxuries?
We started in the streets, gutter-bound
Puttin' in work, prepared for jail
And y'all just got broke off a piece of a Norteños fairytale

Chorus
Dreamin' a life (dreamin' a life) where the money ain't tight
And every ride's dipped in candy
Triple gold reflections shine bright (shine bright)
We all got a house on a hill
Everybody got a crop of the kill
As we smoke, drink, kick back and chill
We divide up another million dollar bill

Biography
Ryan Mitchell Wood (November 20, 1975 – March 7, 2007) was a rapper and producer from Antioch, California, who performed and recorded under the stage name Woodie.
At age 10, Ryan Wood and his mother moved from San Leandro, California to Antioch, California. Around the age of 14, Wood became immersed in gang life and joined the Norteños street gang. Wood spent the remainder of his teenage years going to numerous high schools including Antioch High School, Prospects High Alternative School and Live Oak Continuation School. Woodie never graduated from high school.
The mid 1990s were a tumultuous period for Woodie. His close friend Gabriel “Snoop” Roberson was sentenced to life in prison for a crime he claimed he did not commit, and Carlos “Blackbird” Ramirez died after an encounter with police. Wood served a one year prison sentence for assault with a deadly weapon, for which he maintained was for self-defense. Following his conviction, Woodie was prohibited from residing in Antioch. Woodie served his prison sentence at Folsom State Prison.
Woodie started his own record company called East Co. Co. Records in 1997, after he used his Buick Skylark as collateral for a loan. The record company’s name is a reference to eastern Contra Costa County, where Antioch is located. In 1998, Woodie completed work on his debut solo album, “Yoc Influenced”. Unlike most other rappers, Woodie produced the entire album himself, creating a distinct and easily recognizable sound. He delivered a few hundred cassette tapes of “Yoc Influenced” to Rock Bottom Records in Antioch, his hometown record store. The tapes quickly sold out, and a buzz about the local rapper overtook the town of Antioch. Wood then had the album pressed on CD and delivered them to independent record stores all over Northern California. “Yoc Influenced” was an enormous success and propelled Wood into the forefront of Bay Area gangsta rap.
A year later, Wood released with executive producer D-Small, East Co Co’s first compilation album, titled “Northern Expozure Vol. 1”. Wood was featured on many of the tracks, but used the album to bring attention to other local talent. The song “Norte Sidin” was the most popular track from the album and it received some radio airplay. The record showcased not only Woodie’s lyrical skills but also his production talents. Soon, underground gangsta rap magazine Murder Dog was praising his work, introducing Woodie to a national audience. Like “Yoc Influenced”, “Northern Expozure Vol. 1” was very successful, and prompted Wood to release Volume 2 shortly thereafter. Wood continued to release “Northern Expozure”’s, which reached Volume 7 (skipping Volume 3).
Koch Records signed Woodie and released his second solo album, “Demonz N My Sleep”, in 2001. In 2002, “Life Storiez Vol. 1”, which compiled tracks from his earlier albums, was released. Wood was unhappy with the release of the first “Demonz N My Sleep”, as it did not have the music standard of volume 1, he did not approve of the cover, and two songs were not added to the list: “Norte Sidin 2” and “Blackbird”. In 2004 he released Demonz N My Sleep Remastered, featuring a whole new set of songs, a brand new cover, and featured the release of “Blackbird”, a tribute to his friend Carlos “Blackbird” Ramirez, and “Norte Sidin 2” as a bonus track under the East Co. Co. Label.
Roughly between the years 2000 – 2005 Wood had a disagreement with Brian “Sideways” Reyes, another Antioch rapper. Although the origin of the rivalry is unknown, many believe it started when Reyes' titled a song “The Yoch” on his “Livin The Life” album. Wood took offense to the incorrect spelling of Antioch’s nickname, “The Yoc”, and felt it was a sign Reyes was not who he portrayed himself to be. Reyes was repeatedly referenced on East Co Co songs following the spelling incident. It is not known whether or not the two reconciled their differences before Wood’s death.
On March 7, 2007, Woodie died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound in Florence, Oregon. His wife, Harpaul Singh Rana, was killed in a car accident, prompting the theory that Woodie suffered from depression after her death. He was 32 years old.
