Time - Soul Plant

Copied!edit Lyrics
original text at lyrnow.com/2060211
Under the turmeric moonlight he sat and ruminated
An idea has no power until it's communicated
False energy, I used to light my fuse with hatred
When I stopped caring what others thought i felt rejuvenated
Are fractals, trees, and we part of the cosmic imagination?
Are we an ecology of souls if so is art the pollination?
Most plants I've owned I seem to have killed from overwatering
I replaced excess with balance that's where I was faltering
What if each word was a seed in the soil of the universe?
Would you plant words of gossip or seeds of fruit and junipers?
He could feel the age of the trees he saw the symmetry in their leaves
Fibonacci, the golden ratio, the hexagon, the math of the bee
Is everything your own psyche shattered into a billion pieces?
My ego tells me no but it's not reliable, it's deceitful
I think these fucking phones cut the umbilical to gaia
But maybe that's because we cut her just to make and buy one
When did we start to mistake love for ownership and possession?
If you are what you bought, erase it all, what are you left with?
I’m a configuration of atoms with a peculiar message
I manipulate sound waves and letters I’m DNA expressing
I learn from the corvus, I’m a curious scavenger
Picking at the bones of vanished ideas I sit and examine them
I tore my astral ligaments and left my body like a passenger
I walked through a flaming doorway it burned off my mask and hurt
A being asked me who I was I said I’m just a traveler
I asked them what day it was they said this realm doesn’t have a calendar
I asked them which way is the right way? They replied the no-way
They said speed slows time to move here learn the slow way
They handed me a dream shovel and they said start digging
I said how deep? They said until you get to the beginning
The riddle seemed frustrating but then it started clicking
I remembered digging as a kid like I was looking for something missing
We were both probably digging towards each other in that instance
I looked down at my shoes they started to turn to roots
They said plant yourself so you could understand our truth
Soul plant, plant yourself to see our truth
Soul plant

Swimming in the soil now I’m gone
Microbial symphony I could hear the mycelial song
In between the detritus and the leaves they said you belong
They said you see the trees but you don't see the roots they're strong
We don't have grocery stores but we have each other
We face the wind with our friends we don't take cover
We don’t have drinking fountains we have trust
We grow where we grow and the clouds rain down on us
When you surrender you become a great attractor
Hunters run through our forest chasing what they're after
Not knowing that if they capture it they're still a captive
Cause as long as you desire it you will never catch it
There's 4 things you need down here the first is patience
The next 3 you need to braid them, chaos, creativity, and imagination
When you take the 4 that makes a fifth, that's cooperation
Breathe in the carbon, exhale oxygen, that's cell respiration

We produce it, the animals use it, when the sun comes up we stare
We turn starlight to food if there's not enough to go around we share
When the stars glow and the moon comes
We close our petals together you call it a prayer

Biography

edit bio
Time was a rock band from Yugoslavia that made a significant impact on the music scene in the 1970s. Formed in 1971 by Dado Topić, who had previously been a member of Korni Grupa, the band quickly gained a following with their unique blend of progressive rock and jazz influences.

The original lineup of Time included Dado Topić on vocals, Tihomir “Pop” Asanović on organ, Vedran Božić on guitar, Mario Mavrin on bass, Ratko Divjak on drums, and Brane Lambert Živković on piano and flute. Over the years, the lineup changed frequently, but the core members remained dedicated to creating innovative and captivating music.

Time released three albums during their time together, each showcasing their musical versatility and talent. Their first album featured a prominent Hammond organ, piano, and flute, while their second album had a harder sound with several ballads. The third album introduced a jazz-funk production style, further expanding their musical repertoire.

Some of Time's most popular songs include “Da li znaš da te volim”, “Rock ‘n’ roll u Beogradu”, and “Istina mašina”, which showcased their ability to create memorable and engaging music that resonated with audiences.

After disbanding in late 1977, Dado Topić embarked on a successful solo career, but the legacy of Time continued to live on. In 1998 and 2001, the band reunited for a limited number of live concerts, delighting fans with their timeless music and energetic performances.

Today, Time still plays together as a rock trio, continuing to captivate audiences with their unique sound and enduring musical legacy. Their influence can be heard in the work of many contemporary artists, solidifying their place in the history of Yugoslavian rock music.
