CENTER of a TENSION - The Ohio Song

Copied!edit Lyrics
original text at lyrnow.com/2069018
Verse 1
He's from a letter she keeps folded in her back pocket
He's from a painting of the moon
With no craters on it
He's from an old abandoned shed
And she is from Ohio

He grew up staring at the grass that grew up faster than he did
He grew up always placing last
They still say he's just a kid
He still has gravel in his head
And she's still in Ohio

Chorus
But if you
Listen to the wind
You can hear them getting close
Only time will tell
Where their story's gonna go
But when they cross paths
The colorants and black power will explode

Verse 2
She's holding hands with smoky mountain tops and south pacific waves
She wears the rolling desert hills
Late at night the day it rains
She is a sonnet set ablaze
And his eyes are turning gold
But she's got this delicate stare
Like royal wreaths in her eyes
But she'll never back down from a dare
She's always splitting someone's sides
She's filled with grace
She loves to paint the world much brighter than she's told

Chorus
Listen to the wind
You can hear them getting close
Only time will tell
Where their story's gonna go
But when they cross paths
The colorants and black power will explode

Bridge
But I'm still waiting for the clouds to change into
The shapes of all the words I wanna say
'Cause I'm still floating down the Kentucky river
Waiting for the breeze to carry me away
Away

Chorus
Listen to the wind
You can hear them getting close
Only time will ever tell
Where their story's gonna go
But when they cross paths
The colorants and black power will explode
(Hey, hey, hey!)

Chorus 2
Listen to the wind
'Cause I can hear you getting close
Only time will ever tell
Where this story's gonna go
'Cause I just want you
In the boring and exciting
Mundane clouds and skies and lightning
In Kentucky and Ohio
And the sunrise and the fireworks that explode

Biography

edit bio
CENTER of a TENSION is an Alternative Rock band formed in 2018 in Kentucky by frontman Chase Burdette with his siblings. After playing and writing for several bands, he felt like he had more to say. “I needed a space to talk about things that I couldn’t say anywhere else but in music. This band was born to create that space.” The band underwent several lineup changes early on, before their current members fell into place in 2020 just weeks before the biggest live show they’d ever played at the time. The band set out on a brief series of live performances just before being interrupted by the pandemic that same year. Like for the rest of the world, navigating these challenging times has proven to be strenuous, but has allowed the band time to hone in on what they’re most passionate about seeing happen with the songs they create.
Since their first single ‘Ride the Storm, they’ve been compared to alternative heavyweights such as The Band CAMINO, Judah & the Lion, and even nu-metal legends Rage Against the Machine. ('Ride the Storm’ was later remixed by Colony House drummer Will Franklin Chapman.)
CENTER of a TENSION’s heart-on-sleeve approach has allowed them to show a deeper side of themselves and their struggles on the songs ‘I Wish I Could Show You’ and ‘The Hardest Time.’
“This band exists to pull hope into hopeless situations, so we’re gonna write honest lyrics and hopefully they’ll help someone somewhere find hope.”
