BROCKHAMPTON - TEXAS WATCHIN ME

Copied!edit Lyrics
original text at lyrnow.com/640198
verse 1: joba
It's so easy living in delusion
All i see is an illusion
Been to hell and i could use one
Skipping stars on a cloudy night
Hearing colors, seeing music
I can taste the air
Something like a love affair
Is only fair when it's protected
In the chaos i am still here

chorus: joba & christian alexander
They'll never understand
They'll never understand
I like the way it hurts me
I like the way it hurts me
They'll never understand
They'll never understand
I like the way it hurts me
I like the way it hurts me

verse 2: kevin abstract
I fear for my life like the president
I'm loyal to my brothers like a like a blood
Texas niggas where i get my genius from
Mama got some half brothers
And they from the same place where stevie from
I be in the city, i don't let 'em come backstage
I'm afraid my family cursed
Why the fuck you think a nigga had to go and change his last name?
Yeah, i'm from the trash, it was do or die
Made it out alive, only the strong survive
Had to sell my soul to help my mama out
Never turn on your niggas for some clout
You forgetting how to take the trash out
Five hoes every night the last house
I'm throwing cash out
I made an ass out myself until i motherfuckin' pass out
Drunk as fuck in the airport
Probably kill ya if i tried to care more
Take my own life like it's a damn sport
Like it's shakespeare
Nigga, eight years
No acres, on ay-ers
All my heroes from chicago or brooklyn
They a laker

verse 3: the blossom
As you sleep at night, the city's burning down to the ground
While i'm wide awake, i howl at the moon
All your dreams are never ending circles keeping me around
But i'm just a man with nothing to lose

bridge: kevin abstract
I'm just a man
I'm just a man
I'm just a man
I am just a man
I am just a man
I am just a man

verse 4: matt champion
At your spot 34 floors up
Quick with it, should've never froze up
Had your nose in things you shouldn't
Protected when i know i couldn't
Innocence stripped from the grip
Watch it slip out your tatted hands
On the phone, call and see how far they is
Man you playin' round, we was just some kids
Like red tray round the tv set
I've been pretty gone dog, you regret
Lucky getting off with a minor offense
With the walls closing, holding up your head
Should've pulled you out
Should've saw the ❲?❳
What you gonna do, what you gonna do?
Sitting round the circle, faces turning purple
Same convo, same dead end
Always tryna talk you out this damn lane
❲?❳ face all the things you did
Hanging over everybody but they never show you all the pain that they get
Out that ❲?❳
Self hatred
Got my ❲?❳

outro: matt champion, kevin abstract & joba
I will make it home again
I will make it home again

Biography

edit bio
BROCKHAMPTON is an LA-based boyband that was originally formed in San Marcos, Texas in 2015. The group was founded by high school friends Ian “Kevin Abstract” Simpson and Ameer Vann, who initially formed a group called ALIVESINCEFOREVER in 2012. After releasing their debut EP, The ASF EP, in 2013, the group disbanded at the end of 2014 and rebranded themselves as BROCKHAMPTON.

The band consists of a diverse roster of creatives, including musicians, graphic designers, producers, and videographers, who come together to create a mix of content. Named after the street that Kevin Abstract grew up on in Corpus Christi, TX, BROCKHAMPTON was founded out of a desire for connection and friendship.

In 2015, BROCKHAMPTON gained recognition with the release of their song “Dirt” on A-Trak’s Fool’s Gold Records, marking a breakthrough moment in their career. The following year, they released their debut mixtape, ALL-AMERICAN TRASH, and in 2017, they gained popularity with the release of their debut album, SATURATION, followed by SATURATION II and SATURATION III later that year.

After signing with RCA Records in 2018, the band faced challenges with the dismissal of rapper Ameer Vann due to sexual assault allegations. Despite this setback, BROCKHAMPTON released their fourth album, iridescence, which debuted at number one on the Billboard 200 Albums Chart. The album marked the beginning of a new trilogy titled THE BEST YEARS OF OUR LIVES.

In 2019, BROCKHAMPTON released their fifth full-length record, GINGER, which showcased their versatility and creativity as a group. With a lineup that includes members such as Kevin Abstract, Matt Champion, Merlyn Wood, Dom McLennon, Russell “Joba” Boring, and more, BROCKHAMPTON continues to push boundaries and redefine the boyband genre with their unique sound and collaborative spirit.
