Born on December 6, 1995, in The Bronx, New York, Julius Dubose, known professionally as A Boogie wit da Hoodie, is an American rapper and singer. Growing up in the Highbridge neighborhood of The Bronx, A Boogie was surrounded by the vibrant hip-hop culture of the area.
A Boogie adopted his stage name as a nod to his roots - the "A" in his name stands for his first name, while "Boogie" is a reference to the nickname for The Bronx, also known as the Boogie Down Bronx. The addition of "wit da Hoodie" came from his signature style of always wearing hoodies.
A Boogie first gained attention with his underground hit "My Shit," released in 2016. Following the success of the single, he dropped his debut mixtape, Artist, in February of the same year.
