Derek Pope - Is This the End?

Copied!edit Lyrics
original text at lyrnow.com/121352
Verse 1
Hey, you up in the clouds
Looking down from above
Are you someone to fear?
Or someone we can trust?
It, it makes me wonder
What you see in us
'Cause we, we don't know how to be people
We don't know how to be loved

Verse 2
Now, now I'm looking skybound
With the missiles and flares
They say we're the same creature
Breathing the same air
Or are, you some kind of master?
Who doesn't even care?
Wish, wish you could just tell me
What you're doing up there

Bridge
The conversation's gone
I don't know if you even heard me in the first place

Verse 3
Hey, you up in the clouds
You're blocking the sun
And now, it's too late to change
It's too late to run
Because it's just what I feared
You are one of us
And we, we don't know how to be people
We don't know how to be loved

Derek Pope is a musician who has taken the road less traveled in pursuit of his unique sound. Born and raised in Oakland, California, Pope discovered his passion for music at a young age. In high school, he delved into beat production, spending countless hours perfecting his craft and laying the foundation for what would become his signature sound.

It wasn't until 2015 that Pope decided to experiment with singing, a decision that would ultimately lead him to redefine his musical style. After creating a few demos, Pope realized that he had stumbled upon something special. His lyrics, particularly the line "Looking at the ceiling, thinking I could make a million," resonated with listeners and set the stage for what was to come.

In 2015, Pope released his debut EP, Sunken City Redux, which featured the hit single "Raincoats." The track showcased Pope's ability to seamlessly blend elements of indie rock, pop, and trap, creating a sound that was uniquely his own. With his self-produced beats and introspective lyrics, Pope has managed to carve out a niche for himself in the music industry, pushing the boundaries of what is considered mainstream.

Derek Pope's music is a reflection of his journey as an artist, constantly evolving and challenging the status quo. With each new release, he continues to push the envelope and defy expectations, solidifying his place as a rising star in the music world.
