Derek Pope - Encore

Copied!edit Lyrics
original text at lyrnow.com/1625904
Chorus
Am I wrong for
Hoping there's no encore
One show is enough for me
Out the backdoor
Don’t know what they clap for
It's the strangest thing you'll see
Lives like these

Verse 1
With the cameras on
They’re like Santa Claus
On some fake shit, play sticks, analogs
And you wonder why I never been a fan of ya'll
Ain't enough to get her wet I'm yelling “cannonball”
Guess the bad guy's really winning after all
She'll go put it on if take this hoodie off
Ask me something like she didn't look me up
Ask me something like she don't know

Chorus
Am I wrong for
Hoping there’s no encore
One show is enough for me
Out the backdoor
Don’t know what they clap for
It's the strangest thing you’ll see
Lives like these

Verse 2
Always getting curtain calls
It's a scam artist who don't work at all
All the stunts they pull they don't hurt at all
Couple percs for a rapper, should be birth control
I’m the last to show up and the first to go
With your person, don't take it personal
I just popped a pill this ain't vertigo
Heard your look was clean that's a dirty joke
Take a bow if
You want me to judge I'll allow it
Same old story unfolds
Oh woah
I think I'm goin home

Chorus
Am I wrong for
Hoping there's no encore
One show is enough for me
Out the backdoor
Don't know what they clap for
It's the strangest thing you'll see
Lives like these

edit bio
Derek Pope is a musician who has taken the road less traveled in pursuit of his unique sound. Born and raised in Oakland, California, Pope discovered his passion for music at a young age. In high school, he delved into beat production, spending countless hours perfecting his craft and laying the foundation for what would become his signature sound.

It wasn't until 2015 that Pope decided to experiment with singing, a decision that would ultimately lead him to redefine his musical style. After creating a few demos, Pope realized that he had stumbled upon something special. His lyrics, particularly the line "Looking at the ceiling, thinking I could make a million," resonated with listeners and set the stage for what was to come.

In 2015, Pope released his debut EP, Sunken City Redux, which featured the hit single "Raincoats." The track showcased Pope's ability to seamlessly blend elements of indie rock, pop, and trap, creating a sound that was uniquely his own. With his self-produced beats and introspective lyrics, Pope has managed to carve out a niche for himself in the music industry, pushing the boundaries of what is considered mainstream.

Derek Pope's music is a reflection of his journey as an artist, constantly evolving and challenging the status quo. With each new release, he continues to push the envelope and defy expectations, solidifying his place as a rising star in the music world.
