Floral Tattoo - The Arkbuilder's Wife

Copied!edit Lyrics
original text at lyrnow.com/2063832
Verse 1: Jan Davis
Send me an arkbuilder
Send me a stormchaser
Send me a dark winter
Send me a code breaker
Lay out the peat moss in neat straight rows
Line the windows with newspaper
Call for the wagons laden with supplies
Send me an oathbreaker

Chorus: Jan Davis
Send the wind, send the wind
Send the wind down
Send the wind, send the wind
Send the wind down

Verse 2: Jan Davis
(Send) Send me an arkbuilder
I will be his assistant
I’ll cut the lumber into even pieces
Siren songs growing dissonant
Send me an arkbuilder
I will be his bride
I’ll give him shelter, he may give me warmth
One of every insecurity inside

Chorus: Jan Davis and ?
Send the wind, send the wind
Send the wind down
Send the wind, send the wind
Send the wind down

Bridge: Numbers Power, Jan Davis, Alex Anderson
It came from deep beneath the permafrost (what a shame)
Taking the form of every fight you’ve lost (what a shame)
Where there once grew a different kind of moss (what a shame)
A burning pentecost
It came from deep beneath the permafrost (what a shame)
Taking the form of every fight you’ve lost (what a shame)
Where there once grew a different kind of moss (what a shame)
A burning

(Sha-a-a-ame, sha-a-a-ame, sha-a-a-ame)
(Sha-a-a-ame, sha-a-a-ame, sha-a-a-ame)
Someone who loved you went and hurt you like they had done/been before
Another reason to recede from view and walk out the door
The endless trauma-cycle splits you out and now you've reborn
(Sha-a-a-ame, sha-a-a-ame, sha-a-a-ame)
With all the demons that are eating at your innocent core
Somebody said they loved you while holding the blade to your throat
They won't acknowledge all the pain they rended unto your soul
(Sha-a-a-ame, sha-a-a-ame, sha-a-a-ame)
And nothing makes sense and you're nothing if not always ignored
And it'll take all your life to try and settle the score
(Sha-a-a-ame, sha-a-a-ame, sha-a-a-ame)
Someone who loved you went and hurt you like they had done/been before
Another reason to recede from view and walk out the door
The endless trauma-cycle splits you out and now you've reborn
(Sha-a-a-ame, sha-a-a-ame, sha-a-a-ame)
With all the demons that are eating at your innocent core
Somebody said they loved you while holding the blade to your throat
They won't acknowledge all the pain they rended unto your soul
(The gentle thawing of the permafrost
The shape of the terror and the fight we lost
The state of a parasitic moss
Burnt away in the pentecost)
1, 2, 3, 4

Chorus: Numbers Power and Jan Davis
Send the wind, send the wind, send the wind
Send the wind, send the wind, send the wind
Send the wind, send the wind, send the wind
Send the wind, send the wind, send it down, down, down on me

Biography

edit bio
“Fifth wave” emo/shoegaze/art punk band from the Seattle area, founded as a solo project by bandleader Alex Anderson in 2015 to write her own songs on guitar inspired by folk punk bands like AJJ. She expanded the project to a full band in 2017, with the additions of Nico Pellowski on bass, Christian Taylor on drums, and Gwen “Numbers” Power as a multi-instrumentalist and vocalist. Anderson and Power have been the only consistent members of the band since, with a revolving cast of band members and collaborators filling out the rest of the sound. The band is currently at six members, with Anderson and Power being joined by drummer Jake Kelly, sound artist/synth player Thos Carson, keyboardist Jan Davis, and bassist Ryan Keyes.
