★ Intro ★ Price of love and price of pain Price of love and price of pain Price of love and price of pain Yeah
★ Verse 1 ★ I found you cryin’ on the corner, told you “Stop it” (Stop it) And when I asked you what the problem was, you changed the topic And when I tried to get you to your feet you told me “Watch it!” (Watch it) And when I went to leave I saw you eyein’ off my wallet We knew that there were stalactites all on your lungs, icicles were in your throat Lies would shiver on your tongue, bittеrness became a moat Wе couldn’t swim across to ya, your skin frostier But we still had love (We’re here for you, bro) You were sayin’ that you changed, and askin’ that I’d pray I’d say “You do the same”, then you’d ask me for some change (Fuck that) Saw you slither by in the slip ‘n slide streets Chin up on the curb, belly on the concrete Still I hear your mother weepin’ at the open window When your wifey cannot sleep, drip droppin’ from the heat Still waters run deep, rapid rivers run fast When you needed some help, you should’ve asked
★ Chorus ★ I see you bleedin’ out, I see you bleedin’ out I see you bleedin’ out like, what you dream about, cuz? You breathin’ out, I see you breathin’ out You goin’ ghost on me, man, what you dream about? You goin’ ghost on me, you goin’ ghost (Goin’ ghost) You goin’ ghost on me, you goin’ ghost (Goin’ ghost) I want the most for ya, stay close What happens when your choices already been chose?
★ Verse 2 ★ She was swellin’ from the floor to a drain up in the ceilin’ A penny for her thoughts and Fort Knox for her feelings Asked her if she gettin’ out, she said “Lord willin’” Locked up half a year ago, you left her with the children The brutal repercussion, could see her stomach swellin’ Another one in the oven, she wondered where she’s headed (❲?❳) A pretty young girl from the village The wrong side of the tracks drawn to your bad boy image (Uh, uh, uh) ❲?❳ tended to flip pretty quick though, what a skitzo She couldn’t make an in, bro, and your mind was out the window Higher than the kites that you flew as a child She thought that you could change, was wadin’ through denial You still not out, you can’t see her givin’ birth Pushin’ and screamin’ like she did when she was conceivin’ Blood runs deep, broken waters run fast When you asked her to stay, she should’ve passed
★ Chorus ★ I see you bleedin’ out, I see you bleedin’ out I see you bleedin’ out like, what you dream about, love? You breathin’ out, I see you breathin’ out You goin’ ghost on me, girl, what you dream about? You goin’ ghost on me, you goin’ ghost (Goin’ ghost) You goin’ ghost on me, you goin’ ghost (Goin’ ghost) I want the most for ya, stay close What happens when your choices already been chose?
★ Verse 3 ★ I see the kites hoverin’ high over a span of dirty water See the moon simmerin’ down to a final ruby quarter I see the fumes of the marketplace and the cookers of the hawkers See a woman on the river with a newborn baby daughter She’s lookin’ up at the kites, what a beautiful sight The diamond shapes silhouetted on the fadin’ red light And despite it all, time is frozen for a moment She blows out a puff of smoke, points up at the sky with her right She whispers to her daughter in the soft cotton That those kites are made from wood, red silk, and all our longings From all the hurt inside, the family trees of belonging From all our sweet ghosts and the dreams we’d forgotten Breathe in
