The Move - Going Back

Copied!edit Lyrics
original text at lyrnow.com/416868
I think I'm going back
To things I learned so well in my youth
I think I'm returning to
Those days when I was young enough to know the truth

Now there are no games
To only pass the time
No more electric trains
No more trees to climb

But thinking young and growing older is no sin
And I can play the game of life to win

I can recall a time
When I wasn't ashamed to reach out to a friend
Now I think I've got
A lot more than just my toys to lend

Now there's more to do
Than watch my sailboat glide
But every day can be
A magic carpet ride

A little bit of courage is all we lack
So catch me if you can, I'm going back

La la la la, la la la
La la la la, la la la

Now there's more to do
Than watch my sailboat glide
But every day can be
A magic carpet ride

A little bit of courage is all we lack
So catch me if you can, I'm going back

La la la la, la la la
La la la la, la la la
Aah, aah
Aah, aah...

Biography

edit bio
The Move were an English band formed in 1965 by Trevor Burton (Original guitarist, but ended up as bassist after the departure of Ace) Chris Kefford (or most commonly known as ‘Ace’, who was originally the lead singer but moved to bass at the arrival of Carl). Trevor then eventually picked out Roy Wood (who would later become a prime songwriter for the band and guitarist ), Carl Wayne (The main of the lead vocalists) and drummer Bev Bevan.

The Move rose to fame in Britain during the 60s and early 70s with such songs as Blackberry Way (written by Roy Wood)
Despite their success in Britain having 9 top 20 UK singles within 5 years, The Move gained little to no success in America.

The band went through many changes, Ace ended up leaving due to his mental health as well as Trevor who left after a feud with drummer Bev Bevans.

Jeff Lynne (who you may know from Electric Light Orchestra) joined the band at a point but the band disbanded shortly after that, with Jeff, Roy and Bev starting to form ELO.
