Derek Pope - Hotel

Chorus
Oh well
Guess you know myself so well
What's your secret, I won’t tell
Checked out of my mind's hotel
Feels like I've been here
Feels like I’ve been here
Feels like I've been here

Verse 1
Floors take hold of me
Doors that I've fallen for
Place keeps calling me
Don't you ever wanna know the strangers staying in your head?
Sitting in the lobby like they've got nowhere to rest
I've seen it all beforе
Chorus
Oh well
Guess you know myself so wеll
What's your secret, I won't tell
Checked out of my mind’s hotel
Feels like I’ve been here
Feels like I've been here
Feels like I’ve been here

Verse 2
I can outrun the chase
I'd try getting away
But I'll just get in the way
Only place I know I'll pretend to be safe
While the guests look at me like I’m out of place
Like I'm not the face, 'cause I vanish for days
Keep the wolves on a leash don't know how to behave
No more running by the pool when the blood leaving stains
All my demons like me, even smile the same

Chorus
Oh well
Guess you know myself so well
What's your secret, I won't tell
Checked out of my mind's hotel
Feels like I've been here
Feels like I've been here
Feels like I've been here

Derek Pope is a musician who has taken the road less traveled in pursuit of his unique sound. Born and raised in Oakland, California, Pope discovered his passion for music at a young age. In high school, he delved into beat production, spending countless hours perfecting his craft and laying the foundation for what would become his signature sound.

It wasn't until 2015 that Pope decided to experiment with singing, a decision that would ultimately lead him to redefine his musical style. After creating a few demos, Pope realized that he had stumbled upon something special. His lyrics, particularly the line "Looking at the ceiling, thinking I could make a million," resonated with listeners and set the stage for what was to come.

In 2015, Pope released his debut EP, Sunken City Redux, which featured the hit single "Raincoats." The track showcased Pope's ability to seamlessly blend elements of indie rock, pop, and trap, creating a sound that was uniquely his own. With his self-produced beats and introspective lyrics, Pope has managed to carve out a niche for himself in the music industry, pushing the boundaries of what is considered mainstream.

Derek Pope's music is a reflection of his journey as an artist, constantly evolving and challenging the status quo. With each new release, he continues to push the envelope and defy expectations, solidifying his place as a rising star in the music world.
