Derek Pope - Tongues

Copied!edit Lyrics
original text at lyrnow.com/1625833
Intro
Hideaway
They see you
Feed you what you wanna hear
A spider web
To catch you
And let your world just disappear

Chorus
Half way between heaven and hell I been
We don’t care about your money we won’t judge you for your sins
It’s a bad day to be hiding under ya bed
There’s no rest for the wicked
You can sleep whenever your dead
(It's alive)
Keep the doors locked
I just got a zip in my PO box
And I’m running laps around the roadblocks
She like what I’m cooking then it’s stovetop

Verse
Fangs when she bites down, believe the hype now
Told me where to dive in, I’d rather slide out
Hate how undecisive, they pick a side now
Holding their tongues, holding their tongues
Cut 'em loose
Let 'em dig their graves through the roots
I been spinning so long in a loop
For a while now we been running wild now, running from our doom

Chorus
Half way between heaven and hell I been
We don’t care about your money we won’t judge you for your sins
It’s a bad day to be hiding under ya bed
There’s no rest for the wicked
You can sleep whenever your dead
(It's alive)
Keep the doors locked
I just got a zip in my PO box
And I’m running laps around the roadblocks
She like what I’m cooking then it’s stovetop

Derek Pope is a musician who has taken the road less traveled in pursuit of his unique sound. Born and raised in Oakland, California, Pope discovered his passion for music at a young age. In high school, he delved into beat production, spending countless hours perfecting his craft and laying the foundation for what would become his signature sound.

It wasn't until 2015 that Pope decided to experiment with singing, a decision that would ultimately lead him to redefine his musical style. After creating a few demos, Pope realized that he had stumbled upon something special. His lyrics, particularly the line "Looking at the ceiling, thinking I could make a million," resonated with listeners and set the stage for what was to come.

In 2015, Pope released his debut EP, Sunken City Redux, which featured the hit single "Raincoats." The track showcased Pope's ability to seamlessly blend elements of indie rock, pop, and trap, creating a sound that was uniquely his own. With his self-produced beats and introspective lyrics, Pope has managed to carve out a niche for himself in the music industry, pushing the boundaries of what is considered mainstream.

Derek Pope's music is a reflection of his journey as an artist, constantly evolving and challenging the status quo. With each new release, he continues to push the envelope and defy expectations, solidifying his place as a rising star in the music world.
