Time - Truth Be Told

Copied!edit Lyrics

Truth be told I use this music as therapy
Truth be told, without it you would bury me
Truth be told I think life is a scary dream
Truth be told they lied about the cherry tree
Truth be told the founding fathers were pirates
Truth be told they stole the land with violence
Truth be told it still hasn't stopped
Truth be told from Palestine to Standing Rock
Truth be told the slave patrols became cops
Truth be told white supremacy should rot
Truth be told they keep building more prisons
Truth be told they legislate with religion
Truth be told they hate freedom and autonomy
Truth be told they want to control women bodily
Truth be told protect trans lives
Truth be told colonizers lie
Truth be told no settler futures
Truth be told tell the truth they'll shoot ya
Truth be told read Klee Benally
Truth be told there's informants at the rally
Truth be told they're militarizing the border
Truth be told capitalism is a hoarder
Truth be told they got trillions for war
Truth be told they'll sweep your tent if you're poor
Truth be told abolish the jails
Truth be told you're data's for sale
Truth be told we're in a climate catastrophe
Truth be told give the land back actually
Truth be told every city is ableist
Truth be told I'm an artist not a fatalist
Truth be told they'll give you liquor not books
Truth be told read bell hooks

Time was a rock band from Yugoslavia that made a significant impact on the music scene in the 1970s. Formed in 1971 by Dado Topić, who had previously been a member of Korni Grupa, the band quickly gained a following with their unique blend of progressive rock and jazz influences.

The original lineup of Time included Dado Topić on vocals, Tihomir “Pop” Asanović on organ, Vedran Božić on guitar, Mario Mavrin on bass, Ratko Divjak on drums, and Brane Lambert Živković on piano and flute. Over the years, the lineup changed frequently, but the core members remained dedicated to creating innovative and captivating music.

Time released three albums during their time together, each showcasing their musical versatility and talent. Their first album featured a prominent Hammond organ, piano, and flute, while their second album had a harder sound with several ballads. The third album introduced a jazz-funk production style, further expanding their musical repertoire.

Some of Time's most popular songs include “Da li znaš da te volim”, “Rock ‘n’ roll u Beogradu”, and “Istina mašina”, which showcased their ability to create memorable and engaging music that resonated with audiences.

After disbanding in late 1977, Dado Topić embarked on a successful solo career, but the legacy of Time continued to live on. In 1998 and 2001, the band reunited for a limited number of live concerts, delighting fans with their timeless music and energetic performances.

Today, Time still plays together as a rock trio, continuing to captivate audiences with their unique sound and enduring musical legacy. Their influence can be heard in the work of many contemporary artists, solidifying their place in the history of Yugoslavian rock music.
